My Acads are 7.8/94.2/92 (10th (CBSE)/12th (CBSE) /Btech)
My CAT 2019 raw score is 32/33/63=128 (VARC/LRDI/QA=OA)
I am a GEM fresher and is not working right now (Work Ex ka scene sorted hai)

It's not about what mentorship programs stand for. Malay Ray has been running one for years and I don't think I've ever seen a post from him here on PG. It's about what kind of mentors we're learning from.
Mr. Raj Roy : Running a mentorship program while telling people in August that those who aren't scoring 135 currently in mocks should not aim for IIM A,B,C. Well, I know a person (Not personally, he did put up a post here) who was scoring in double digits up until the business end of CAT and cracked 169 on the D-day. He may have been an exception but my boy @IIM_Groot was struggling himself for a while and he cracked a fine 177. I struggled all year in LRDI and that did bring in my downfall but I think I still managed a decent score: 151.
All We had were each other. For supports, doubts, anxiety, nervousness. We were and continue to be each other's mentors. Now imagine, once the exam is over, an IIM C alumnus telling you that people who've done well are over hyped and anything below 180 is just okayish (Below half-decent, is there a word for it?). Still fine. But imagine that person being your mentor. Everyone is entitled to one's opinion but it's a two-way street. You can't be a hypocrite and assume that there'd be no backlashes to your baseless claims or derogatory statements. That's not how leadership or mentorship works. You have to take on all comers, good or bad.
Here comes the most painful part: After months and months of prep, you still can have a bad day. A bad score. So yeah, for 'mentors' like Mr. Roy, this may just be a filtering exam but for many of us it's months and years of our lives. We don't need a stamp of his authority as to what CAT is. No matter what his Alma Mater is. 177 is good. 169 is good. Hell, depending upon how your prep was and what you were expecting, any score is good.
Eras are different, people. The population of a country increases. The top quality seats in country's top colleges don't increase in the same ratio. They shouldn't. Agreed. This kind of dilemma was there while most of us were prepping for IIT-JEE too. Elders who used to tell us, objective mode doesn't really test people out. Well Sir, you weren't losing out on 4 marks just because under immense pressure you put in cos 60 as sqrt(3)/2 instead of 1/2. You had step marking. We don't have. It's all or nothing.
Don't let anyone else dictate terms. Take help from people like @Arsene96 , @IIM_Groot . People who've been here long enough to know how these things work. Hell, they've all learned from their rejections and years of struggle. They're all students. And no, they won't brag about their great scores every time you ask them your doubts. Of course, Mr. Roy is an IIM C alumnus. But that's still just one person.
And no, the people I mentioned above do not run any mentorship programs, separately or in tandem.
