Hi Divya, everything in your profile looks good. (Your education before undergrad is not considered by any b-school).
My concern is about the work you have done in the past 2.4 years at Cognizant - have you grown well, more than your average peer? Have you held any positions of responsibilty, led teams, worked in cross- functional teams? These are the questions that spring to my mind on looking at your job description. If your answer is in affirmative for them, then you could have interesting stories to talk about in your essays.
Which brings me to the most important essay you would write for any b-school- what are your career goals? Your choice of b-schools should depend on these and on other factors like which industry do you want to work in post MBA, does the b-school get recuiters belonging to that industry , any special courses you want to do at a particular b-school etc. etc.
So until I know you career goals, it would be hard to comment on the schools.

What are the international B-schools that are good for mid-level executives with 13 years of experience?
Hi,
Request you to review my profile....
I am 26 yrs old commerce graduate and have a total of 5.5 years of experience. Currently working for a leading American bank's Back Office function (Settlements, Pricing etc.) and expecting to become a VP in another 4-6 months.
On the education front, I have poor acads and that's where I am concerned and want to know if I have any realistic chance of getting into a top B school. Have done my 10th, 12th and graduation with very low percentage
10th-57%, 12th-50%, B.com-53% couple of certifications from NSE.
Have good Extra Curricular and have played cricket at national level on many occasions with many other achievements. This is one reason for having poor acads as I was trying to make career in cricket and spent more than 10 years of my life in cricket and like any other sportsman, education was not the no. 1 priority. I have been associated with NGOs and also I am a member of a public speaking club.
I am looking for a top B school either in India or outside. With the kind of acads I have, there would be a question mark on my ability to cope up with the grueling curriculum in a B school. Does anyone know if someone with such low scores has made it to a top B school? Also, please suggest which schools should I realistically expect out of the top B schools if I score really? Should I start preparing for GMAT and completely concentrate on it or I must do a course like CFA (atleast Level 1) to convince about my abilities to study before applying for any B school and appering for GMAT?
I am aiming for 2013. The primary reason for MBA is learning and upgradation of the skills as I clearly lack/miss proper business education.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Hey puys,
I am thinking of applying in Round 2.
It will be a great help if someone can analyse my profile and tell me the schools I can aim for.
Female, 23
Graduation: B.Tech ITBHU with GPA 7.34 (Absolute Grading)
Work Experience: Experience will be 2 years by fall'12
GMAT: 760
Extra Curricular: Been Active in Sports, Music, Held positions of Responsibility....
Also, I am currently working on an entrepreneurial venture (Internet Business) which should be live by the end of the year. I plan to go for an MBA in Fall'12. After MBA, I wanna gain some experience, global exposure and then pursue my entrepreneurial interests again.
Can you also tell me what are my chances with top 10 schools.
Thnx
Dear consultants,
Could you please help me make a critical decision?
I gave my GMAT yesterday and scored 680 ( QA49, VA 34). AWA score is awaited. I never scored less than 38 in any of the mocks in VA but some how ended up with a godforsaken '34' when it mattered the most.
I was all gung-ho about applying to ISB in R2 but my GMAT score has been a dampener. Would be grateful if you could evaluate my profile and tell me what my chances are, especially with respect to ISB
XII - 78%
Graduation - Mechanical engineer from Punjab Engineering College, 63.1%
Currently working as a Research Analyst with a top consulting firm, one of the top performers in the company. Have also received a an award for client impact. Also leading a team of 4 analysts.
Total work ex as on date - 3 years 3 months.
Extra curricular - average
Would be grateful if you could evaluate my profile and let me know what my chances are and whether I should spend the next 1 month burning the mid night oil to apply R2 at ISB.
Many thanks.

You can try for Bradford Accelerated MBA starting in Jan 2012. In this they normally look for people with 5+ years of work experience working at top managerial level.

nk77,
there are not too many programs especially catered towards this segment :the best one is the Sloan fellowship program which takes place at LBS, Stanford and MIT (1 year, intensive), with average work exp. being 15 years.
The other full time programs that you can consider are :
Oxford
Cambridge
IMD
HEC Paris
Esade
IE
While the average age exp. in these courses is 5-7 years, the 20-80% range figure does extend to 33 years. So you would still be eligible.
You can also check out some Indian programs like:
ISB PGPMAX
EPGP/ PGP MAX by IIMs
Other than this, you have the EMBAs - but those are not feasible if you don't stay in the same city as the program

Dear Consultant Team,
I am in the middle of my application to HULT International Business School - Boston Campus. I have seen the FT-2011 rankings of HULT which is 61 in top 100. It has been in the news for tremendous Jump in the Rankings. But on a serious note I have seen many a negative feedback about HULT for not being of the same standard as the schools just above it in the rankings.
My profile is briefed here below for your perusal. It's my earnest request to enlighten me about the market value of a HULT MBA and also the prospect of my degree from HULT - as belonging to a Middle Class Family the amount of 46-48 Lakhs as Total Course Expense, I don't want to fall into a blackhole and then regret my decision in the future.

Awaiting for a positive response in this regard. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.

Graduation - B.Tech (Civil Engineering) IIT Bombay, CPI- 6.85/10
GMAT Score 750(Q50, V41)/5
Work Experience- 4 Years Full Time( But i have done some part time work before i graduated)
Work Experience Details:
I have been involved with Siwan Municipal Corporation(My Home Town's Municipal Corporation) as a structural Consultant before i graduated from my college(2 Years Part Time) and i later joined it as full time consultant( 2years Full time) after ditching quite a few jobs at the Placement Cell(I know it sounds weird for many of you) but, that was the thing i wanted to do for a very long time. I have designed quite a few structures over there which i would like to enlist here.
1. Designed Cheap Toilets for Urban Poor in the Siwan Municipal Periphery catering to around 50 thousand Junta in that area.( Bihar Government Funded Project)
2. Designed the Drainage System for the Bus Terminus,Siwan,Bihar, India and also estimated the Cost of the Project as per local rates of Siwan. (Funded by Government of Bihar)
3. Designed a 3 Storied Shopping Complex in tune to Siwans shopping needs. (Funded by Government of Bihar)
Also, On a Free Lance Basis, I have also designed around 200 Rural Godowns in the District of Gopalganj as per the Rural Godown Scheme of NABARD in order to help the farmers to maintain a good buffer stock and not to rely on rather junk State Food Corporation Godowns.
After my 2 year stint at Siwan Municipal Corporation i left it on the ground that most of the structures that i have designed have been constructed. More over, I also wanted some exposure into the Project Management. So, I joined Indiabulls Real Estate as a Civil Site Engineer at Mumbai. I have been working as a part of the Project Management Team which is building a 85 acre Elite Residential Township in Mumbai. I have got promoted once during my time at IndiaBulls and i am now called Assistant Project Manager. My total Work Experience in Indiabulls is 2 years exactly.
Extra Curricular
Was the Scriptwriter for my Hostel at Performing Arts Festival at IITB.
Acted in a street play for my Hostel at the Inter Hostel Street Play Competition.
Writing a Novel on my Experiences at my First job and i have already found a UK based publisher.
Interested in Photography.
Was the Mess Secretary of my hostel during my IITB days.
I also helped in the formation of a platform for farmers called the Gopalganj Kisan Club Federation, a farmers' NGO with a head strength of around 4000 farmers which helped them to come to a platform to address their issues. I had incorporated a company called Amantran Agri Products Pvt Limited and had tied up with that NGO in order to sell their produce but had to give up because of my financial constraints and no business experience. Though, I would very much like to revive the same after i complete my MBA.
I am also a part of District Red Cross Society, Siwan
I want to pursue an MBA from the top Business Schools based in US or Europe. The reason behind this is, I want to use my skills which i will gain during my International MBA and will apply them to revive Amantran Agri Pvt Limited which will help in further development of the Industrially Backward Districts of Siwan and Gopalganj. Moreover, It will also help me get noticed by the various Government Departments whom i will be dealing with. I don't know whether my profile is suitable or not for a top Notch Business school because mine is a very non conventional one but still. Please advice that which Business Schools in the US or Europe will be suitable for me and where should i be applying so that i may be able to pursue my dream.

Nickleblade, i am posting below some data I pulled from another thread : ISB aspirants 2013 (hope the format remains 😃 -ok it didn't, so I am reposting)
Gmat: 600-640 No. of applicants: 11; Percentage that got interview calls 27%
Gmat: 650-700 No. of applicants: 36; Percentage of interview calls 39%
Gmat: 710-740 No. of applicants: 65; Percentage of interview calls 58%
Gmat: 750 and above, No. of applicants: 18; Percentage of interview calls 67%
So, basically from the applicants who applied R1 this year, number of interview calls have been high for those with above 700 on GMAT scores. But there have also been calls for applicants with less than 700 GMAT score.
ISB'a student profile also has students with GMAT ranging from 670-750. While you fall in this range, you are at the lower end. To offset this disadvantage, you would have to write a great application - you have been a top performer and received client appreciation for creating impact - these strengths need to come out very strongly in the essays and recommendations, inorder to make further 'impact' on the adcom.
At this stage, you only option is to not submit your app in R2 (and in effect, apply next year). If you think of retaking the exam this late, you will not have much time for writing the great app. that we just discussed (and may also not get dates for a GMAT, considering their 1 month time restriction). In case you apply and do not make it through, you can apply next year with a fresh GMAt score - ISB is quite reapplicant friendly.
So, shine the nickel, but on the essays, and not GMAT!

nk77, you have a good chance of making it at the Sloan program. You have a good GMAT score and work experience close to the average experience of the class. What's more, you have your own entrepreneurial venture, something that would be valued at Sloan.
My partner, who is a Sloan (LBS) grad himself has suggested that you also apply to the MIT and/or Stanford campus, besides LBS - though most of the students at these two campuses are sponsored, yet your entrepreneurial stint will be viewed favorably there.
Since you already have an admit from IIMA, you will need to consider certain factors like do you want to do an international course (and spend that much more). Also, the deadlines for the January intake of the Sloan program are over, atleast at LBS (they are still accepting applications, but I think only where a visa is not required, so you may want to ask them about your case). In effect, you may be joining school in 2013 if you join the Sloan Fellowship program.

Can't talk about specific schools as our methodology to do so needs a more comprehensive set of data points. But here are some tips.
Unconventional profiles don't necessary mean an advantage or a disadvantage. How you link it to your career goals is more important.
For instance, considering the region and functional area you want to work in after your MBA, I'm wondering (and Adcoms might too) about the value that an international, heavily corporate-focussed education can provide to you.
Many of the western ideas that get taught in the class may not be appropriate (or might in fact be counter-productive) to implement in India. With due respects, you might be in a better position to talk about how things get done at the BOTM. In fact, the last I heard about someone who did commendable work in Bihar, got invited to Harvard to tell their kids how we do it here.
If you are convinced that an international MBA will help you (maybe it is to get in touch with guys who can fund your venture or to tie-up with other companies that are doing similar things in other emerging markets), then specify that clearly in your essays.
All in all, I like your profile buddy.

I really appreciate your reply. Whatever you have said is right at the very core. Yes, I want to pursue an MBA in order to get some assistance regarding the formation of a startup, that may be in the form of some team members or some fellow thinkers or funding from Some Companies who may be interested in my startup at a third world country. As, I am in receipt of a Bihar Government Scholarship to do an MBA from abroad which will cover my whole tuition fees as well as my personal sustenance allowance at any of the B School abroad , i will have to come back to India and work in Bihar for a minimum period of 5 years. So, i won't be really be able to work abroad. How are the MBA Entrepreneurship Programs at the top B schools? Will i be able to come back with any knowledge of Business at the positive side and contribute to Bihar at Grass Root Level?
