Actually I did my B.Tech in mechanical engineering in the year 2010 after which I moved to writing field (writing of mechanical engineering subject content). Right now also I am working in this field and have a total work experience of 2 years 8 months. I worked at 2 companies - for 1 year 1 month at Kogent Learning Solutions (a unit of Wiley India Publishing House) and for 1 year 7 months at Dragonfly Education Pvt Ltd (a startup).
My basic aim to do MBA is to change my line (currently I have WRITING field) and to move in another line. I have a keen interest in Food Business. I want to open my chain of restaurants in whole India. Right now, I have become so passionate that I want to leave my current job and begin my startup.
I assume that starting only 1 restaurant can be done without an MBA but starting a chain of restaurants would require an MBA. So, my question to you is that if I leave my current job (of work ex 2.8 yrs), then take a gap of 2 months to give GMAT and at the starting of Jan 2014 - open my restaurant, then would that affect my application to B-School (If I submit in around Aug 2014)?
Would the career switch from Writing to Food Business pose a negative impact on my application? Will my work experience be counted as a whole or will it be counted only for my work in my restaurant startup?
At the end, it would be great if you can suggest me some of the good B-Schools that can suit to my application - Restaurant Management.
Total Work Ex: 1.4 years (will be 2 years till the time I will join)
I have good startup experience and have done plenty of entrepreneurial work + Good projects.
I am yet to write GMAT though I am targeting a score of 720.
I want to do MBA in Finance (1st preference) or Marketing (Second Preference).
Current preference order or countries (based on job market): US Singapore, Hong Kong.
Queries: 1) As you can see I have 2 demerits: Avg CGPA and Very low work ex.. Can I apply for Top MBA colleges in Singapore or Hong Kong (as top colleges in US won't take me with this work ex)?
2) I made list of countries based on feedback of my friends wrt current job scenario. Do I need to consider any other country (or some specific college) as well, who intakes candidates with only 2 years of work exp.
3) What is the value of non-MBA post graduate courses in Job Market (Masters in Economics etc) from top BSchools?
4) Would you please suggest good colleges who have considerable amount of candidate intakes, who have only 2 years of work ex. As of now, I have only ISB in the list.
hI fRENZ.. M working and couldnt find satisfactory amount of time to work hard for exams.. But fight is on.. FOr Now, CMAT score is out. I scored 84 Only. Have two years of work-ex and an SC candidate. could you tell what coll may I be able to get in with the above credentials??EXPERTS' COMMENTS AWAITED..!! 👼
I am planning to give GMAT next year. I have been preparing for CAT, but my Quants is pretty weak and CAT did not go that well. I am really confused if my work ex is good enough for GMAT. I am looking forward to colleges in India, Singapore, Canada, Australia and US. Most probably Marketing or finance.
Please evaluate my profile:

I am looking for 1 year MBA program in India and Singapore. Kindly evaluate my profile and suggest me some institutes from which I can get a call.
I am a Journalism graduate with aggregate score of 62%. Scored 50% in 12th which I understand is very less. In 10th I scored 65% and GMAT score is 680. I have about 3 years of work experience in financial research with a leading KPO. Currently working in the same organization.
Hi, I m planning to do full time MBA in MBA IT. I am going to give SNAP this December. I wanted to know cut offs and placement+faculty review for following Institutes of Symbiosis. SIIB SITM SIBM B. Kindly guide me.
I am a BE in Computer Engg with more than 11 years of exp. in IT. My GMAT score is 700. I am looking for 1 year full time Executive MBA option. I thought IIM's EMBA programs are suitable for me. I was late for IIM-A and IIM-C. Applied for IIM-B, but was rejected after PI.
Shall I wait and try for IIMs again next year? or shall I look for some other institutes abroad? What B-schools I should target based on my experience? From the cost perspective, I felt doing EMBA in India or Singapore are good options. Please let me know any other good institutes offering similar programs that are not-too-high on the cost.
I checked the profiles for ISB's general program and I believe my experience is little too much for that and hence not targeting it. Let me know.
