Established by SEBI in 2006, the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM) is India’s premier institution for securities market education, professional certification, and research. Located in Patalganga, Navi Mumbai, NISM offers industry-focused programmes developed in collaboration with regulators and financial market participants.

Programmes Offered

  • PGDM (Securities Markets) 2027–29: A two-year AICTE-approved programme covering Financial Markets, Investment Analysis, Equity Research, Portfolio Management, Risk Management, Wealth Management, FinTech, Corporate Finance, and Regulatory Compliance through classroom learning, internships, live projects, and industry exposure.
  • LL.M. in Investment & Securities Law 2027–28: A one-year programme jointly offered with MNLU Mumbai, focusing on Securities Law, Corporate Law, Capital Markets, Insolvency, Competition Law, Compliance, and Financial Regulations.

Eligibility

  • PGDM: Bachelor’s degree (minimum 50%; 45% for reserved categories) with valid CAT 2026, XAT 2027, CMAT 2027, or GMAT score.
  • LL.M.: LL.B. degree with minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST). Final-year students may apply provisionally.

Selection Process

Admissions are based on academic performance, entrance exam scores (for PGDM), personal interview (where applicable), and overall profile.

I got through a couple of tier 2 B-Schools for MBA in Finance but also looking at NISM’s PGDM in Securities Market. The niche focus sounds great, but I’m confused about ROI and placement scope.

CFA is the global certificate to become a financial analyst in the market, where as NISM certifications are the industry mandatory certifications to build a career in securities market in India and that is regulated by SEBI.
