Hi!! Myself Vivek Behera. I am having 4 yrs. of work ex in Retail domain with Infosys Technologies Ltd. and am currently doing my summer internship at SIDBI, Gurgaon.

I would rate my first year at DSM as quite good overall (3 out of 5). It was a mix of both work and fun (more of the latter for me though). Got to learn a lot and had lots of fun too.

Starting with academics, I felt the lectures to be too many and too long to my liking and i dozed off, mid lecture lots of times (Some batch mates of mine are quite jealous of this ability of mine ). But that was the case during B.Tech too, so nothing different there. As far as professors are concerned, they are quite good, very helpful and easily approachable. There were a number of guest lectures, panel discussions etc. and I found majority of them to be interesting, informative and fun to attend. It was fun participating in the various events that were organised during the year. Got to attend a few national level conferences too (a good way of building contacts and missing classes with official approval ). Exams were not that difficult to clear. Found them easier to manage than the exams that I wrote during graduation. With a little bit of hard work, anybody can get a great result.

Now coming to the environment part. The campus is great!! Many open grounds, lots of greenery, great sports facilities and a good cafeteria. Sports facilities are great and got time to use them too. Enjoyed playing Badminton, Cricket, Football etc. whenever there was any free time. There is an annual DTU sports meet as well for the various disciplines. Took part in the Badminton competition but got knocked out in the first round though :-(
Cafeteria food is quite good and cheap too.

One big minus as per me was the no-existent club culture at DSM, but that was to be expected, DSM being a newly established college. The situation improved a lot with regards to club activities towards the end of the year and I see it improving even further with more people joining this summer.

I will stop here now since this post has already become quite long!! There are many more experiences to share and i could go writing on and on. I have managed to cover most of them though. Feel free to ask any questions that you might have for me after reading this post.

Have Fun 😃

thx.. it was nice to hear your experience.. it would be great if you tell when does the semester ends, both odd and even, in which month??

ohkkkk thx..

The odd sem is from August to Nov End / Dec first week at most. Then there's 1 month of winter break. Thereafter, the even sem is from Jan to June 1st week, followed by a two month break for summer internship. Then the next cycle starts.

Hey Puys,

Sorry for being late when i expect me to be the very first one here :D
Well,
I am Wasil, 2.75 ys of exp in IT industry and was hell bent doing an MBA :)
Now comes the million dollar question (which is worth pennies now as i have answered it zillion times :D) "Why MBA from DSM"?
Ans: I did not have that big a %ile to go in IIMs, MDI etc and the colleges i could have preferred were Fore, Lbsim etc etc, but then on weighing the pros n cons of everything, DSM stood firm over others n TRUST ME i am delighted with my decision.
Ok now few thing in short:
1. I am the Training and Placement head of DSM my year, and i am happy the way placements went by though there are surely few improvement points but there will always be. We plan to do awesomely well this year and we will :)
2. I am sometimes a bit sad in a way that due to placement cell we kinda miss on few important lectures which pays heavily sometimes, but that's the fees i think :D
3. Faculty is mixed but improving day by day (everywhere it's the same), if you feel it's not so then better drop a year n try to go to IIMs where it is that way :)
4. 60 students in a batch makes it much more easy to pay attention individually and that's the biggest +.
5. Sports are AWESOME :)
6. Hostels are great 😃 ; food is even better 😃 (trust me on this guys, food is finger lickin' good; and it isn't KFC :P)
7. The biggest + is that we can mould DSM the way we want, it's these starting years when the foundation is laid and we do every bit to ensure it is solid.
8. Come here to work guys :)

Rest brb. 😃

thats great to hear.. and i hope that it has big company names like JP, GS, EnY etc in your recruitment.. 😃

Hello everyone,
I am Abhay Arora. With 13 months of experience in sales and marketing, after completing my engg in comp science.
Now ,about my experience in DSM..let me divide it into various sections
1.EXAMS

They are pretty easy to clear..and easier to get good marks in them..i only used to study on the last night before the exam and still managed to get 70 % . U just need to concentrate in class if u dun wanna study at home on regular basis.and last hour study will surely help u to get through.( and i knw every engineer is habitual of doing this already )

2.SPORTS
Well..thats my favourite area..as i have been into sports since my school days.I have represented delhi in various U-17 and U-19 cricket tournaments. So half the time in college we are playing cricket. We have many places in the campus to play cricket..be it nay format..5 vs 5...11 vs 11 and the main charm is 1 vs 1.mine and wasils favourite..so for all the sportoholics..It will be ur dream come tru here in next two years.

3.Lectures
Well i am the wrong person to write about it.so dun wanna comment on this topic :-P:-P:-P

4.Faculty

Faculty at DSM is superb..with permanent faculty and guest faculty from premier institutes and organisations visiting the campus regularly

5.PLACEMENTSwith 15 + companies visiting the campus for MBA and that too for just 60 students and also offering a decent package...i think one should make by itself that how the placements are going

6.CULTURAL EVENTS

we have planned DSM's own fest with the name d'affaires for the next session with various events..(that you will get to knw when sessions starts:)
and also we have our various events that happen in every sem..like the cricket premier league(like the famous IPL..yes ..bdding will also be there with 12 teams of the managers from our very own class)..Footbal Premier league( its a penalty shootout football tournament inm which students of various colleges will take part)..and the CRICBLITZ( inter college cricket tournament in th central ground of the DTU campus)..and also the cultural fest of DTU..the biggest event of the year that goes on for week..we won various prizes this year and made our presence felt in the DTU...

7.miscellanious

I was not able to give this section a particular topic therefore i named it miscellanious..

in the dtu campus ..one can do fun unlimited..as its one of the largest campuses of INDIA..hostels are good...food is simply awesome..and that too at minimal rates...imagine spring rolls at Rs.20 ..sambhar idli at Rs.10...lol..i shudnt market the canteen here anymore...and also we have special holi celebrations..and hostel nights..:w00t::w00t: and we have our famous maggi baba at the entrance of dtu till 3a.m in night..and riding the bikes on dtu roads is like racing in moto gp..trust me..as i am a bike freak..i knw the importance of the roads here...

and now about what i have gained from dtu...i will say i have gained WEIGHT..i have earned few good friends...and i have finally found a track where i can speed up my bike to 140 kmph...and obviously i will earn a good job too

i think i should end it here..else this thing will keep on getting bigger and bigger just like the campus of DTU...

i feel gud abt being a part of DSM now..and i also believe there's lots to offer to this instt. as the way i have been to my engg. college.....

waiting for aug 1 eagerly more than evr now...

probably this is the first tym DSM has been marketed properly,we would need to do this much early for the new 2012 aspirants....wat say seniors................................

As Abhay pointed out, we and our seniors have organised a few events over the last 2 years.
With people like you coming in, who are ready to work hard for the college.
We hope we would be able to organise such events more frequently and on a bigger scale, that'll help market the college in a better way.

Everyone's been talking about how good the faculty is, but i wont do the same. perhaps i would like to talk about this professor.

THE Dr P.K Gupta
B.Tech from Thapar University
M.B.A from FMS
and a few more degrees from i don't even remember :-P
Left his job and as a GM Marketing at B.H.E.L
Has been the Director of a couple of colleges.
Now run a Firm of his own and also is Secretary General NAFEN (Govt of India).

After all these prodigious achievements, the only regret in his life being that he had to wait for his bajaj scooter for "10" LONG years(the waiting time being that long)
ohh wait there's one more "har roz ghar jaake biwi ki chik chik suno - kahan gye the, kiske saath gye the, itna late kyu ho gye"

There is ONE thing, rather SOMENE he talks about in every lecture of his.and yes its someone apart from his wife :w00t: ( i'll let this be a surprise for when you attend his class)

He'll amuse you with his examples while teaching.

Don't even to dare to be late in his class and BLOODY HELL don't talk to anyone during his lecture or he'll kick you out.:splat:
and that's not it, there's a lot more that my friends would like to discuss about him.

He's one professor we wont forget till our last breath.
