Can the guys from Current PGPX class answer this query?

Is there a penalty if one is more than 40 yrs of age? Please confirm as nothing of this sort is mentioned on the website under the eligibility criteria section, link for which is given below:

I am highly interested in pursuing this course but need clarity on this piece of information.

Please help guys. Appreciate your time.

Is there any wats app grp for PGPX R1 2018 aspirants..we can connect ..anyone in...?

Hi Guys, I am from current batch (PGPX 2016-17). If you have any questions/queries regarding your candidature, kindly post here. Ff the query is too specific/personalized, then you can pm me.

PS: I got a lot of help from pagalguy in cracking all three IIMs . Hence, its payback time now!

Thanks Subhayu! I really want to do a second MBA for two reasons:-1. The previous MBA was done a decade ago, when I had little perspective on the challenges in the work environment. I never could use academics to shed light to practical scenarios 2. I have been a banker and want to switch from banking to consulting, even if it's in the BFSI space.

Also, there are two deadlines. Does applying in the first deadline mean that a candidate stands a better chance than applying in the second one?

Friends, can someone guide me if online gmat preparation is worth. I am planning to take gmat for pgpx 17-18 for which application deadline is mid Sep (R1) & mid Nov (R2). Hardly 2 months to go for R1 & 4 months for R2. I am finding it difficult to prepare while working & classroom coaching is not available nearby to consider. Google says i need to spend about $1000 for online coaching from Manhattan / Veritas / Kaplan etc. Is it worth and if yes, which is the best among the lot. Greatly appreciate some advise. Thanks.

Hi everyone. My query is in order to assess through your experiences whether PGPX will help me meet the goals I'm going to mention. I'm 28+ years, general, male, 2010 engg graduate from IIT. Last 4+ years in insurance based data solutions, business intelligence, risk management domain. Applied last year,R2- no calls- probably lower age, less work ex or lower grades, or a mix of these, despite 740 GMAT. Through other applications, I have realized reflecting manufacturing based operations/SCM goals as unrealistic after financial/analytics roles. I'd project my aims in finance, risk management such risk officer roles etc. Please share your thoughts.

Hello, a general comment on the posts here. Though we appreciate that each applicant's profile is unique, it is difficult to say whether we will be able to assess any profile as "suitable" for the PGPX program. As far as our admissions experience goes, the focus is on decent academics, substantial work experience (leadership roles preferable) and the ability to communicate effectively through essays and interviews later on. Period. I myself plead guilty to having asked such questions in last year's threads :P. My sincere advise to you is not to rely on other's opinions and instead ask if you are ready to spend one year in a rigorous academic setting and ready to contribute to the exerience of the class. Also, it would be good to have some clarity about what your aspirations are post PGPX. Please spend time reflecting on these aspects. A qualification of your profile here by any of us is just a morale booster and should be treated as nothing more and nothing less.

Hello Friends

I am planning for R2. Ready to put efforts daily. Now could anyone suggest a strategy about the preparation for the exam. I mean i am surfing about  this. I believe taking a practice test should be the way to begin. and then mastering concepts in the OG along with frequent tours on gmatclub, magoosh. A nice suggestion would help us aspirants save time. cheers and request

Hi

I have a question regarding my application competitiveness in such diverse pool of applicants .

I have around 10 years of experience in IT development . I have worked in India offices for Investment banks such as Lehman Brothers , Nomura and J P Morgan .  I have usually worked in very small teams ( 2- 3  people in team)  throughout my career . Generally  IT division of Investment bank has small teams and it is not unusual to be an individual contributor even after 10 years of experience  [ I have one person reporting to me though ] . Also I don't have international experience but I have worked with teams spread across globe The combination of not having led big teams or not having international exposure  will put me in disadvantage ?

Also I have done engineering from NIT and have got certifications in CFA level 1 and FRM level 1 . I have  also done some extra-curricular activities in College . My GMAT score is 710 .

Will it be worth the effort if I apply for IIM A PGPX course ?

Regards

Amit

Hi, would like to know whether our B schools like ISB/IIMA/B require university endorsed transcripts? I am not sure but,may be, ISB doesn't ask for these.
