It has always been my dream to study in an IIM. And I have heard that IIM K is a really good institute. I am really confused...Can the experienced seniors and my fellow batch-mates guide me on this???

I will answer ur questions one by one...
xlri is definitely better as an institute... placements or otherwise... but if u r insistent on getting an iim tag, then go for iimk...now where xlri stands... xlri is in the top 5 in every rankings... only iim abc is considered better... people are confused between xlri, iiml and fms... iimk and iim I does not come in the elite category that xlri is a part of...
But Isnt IIM K really growing fast. I hve heard of ppl who have chosen IIM K over XLRI for the brand value. Wouldnt K overtake XLRI in terms of value?? Or has it already??
@Matifa yes IIMk is growing fast... very fast... from 1996... almost 18 years its been... still cudn catch up with xlri though... ppl taking iimk over xlri wud be keralites who wanna be close to their families n those who wanted bm n got hr or vice versa... xlri is a gr8 brand... n abt has iimk overtaken xlri already in terms of "value"??? Really? u shud know the answer to that... 😁 hmmm u cud take a leap of faith n hope after 2 years wen u pass out, it does overtake xlri... 😃

XLRI Jsr BM is the 4th best course out there after IIM ABC. PERIOD!
2022 placements :
IIM C (Best placements among all IIMs) median is 31Lpa and XLRI (Including Ncr campus) median is 30Lpa. Only XLRI Jamshedpur will definitely beat IIMC in its median package!
I myself an XLRI alumni from the batch of 1999. During the time my obvious preference was XLRI over IIM Kozhikode. But the way, IIM Kozhikode is growing is immense. I have gone through several answers on Quora and saw most of them were answered 3–4 years back. But the trend has changed a bit now.
Placements - I was amazed to see that roughly 3 years back when there were around 4 lakhs of difference between the average package of IIM Kozhikode and XLRI it is now reduced to just roughly 1 lakh as per the 2020–22 placements record. Although, XLRI is still on the higher end but with the speed with which IIM K is improving its ranking and public perception is unmatchable today by any other institute. IIM K average package - 29.5, XLRI - 30.73 while that of IIM Indore - 25.6 which places it at the back seat of the competition.
Infrastructure - I personally got the chance to visit IIM K around 5 years back during my niece’s convocation and got captivated to see the beauty of the Kozhikode campus. I have been previously to IIM A, C, MDI, and XLRI again in 2018 and can say without a doubt it is incomparable to IIM Kozhikode.
Also, in news, it is given that IIM Kozhikode is building a new sports complex with a swimming pool and a garden to mark its 25th anniversary which will again put it on the top list. It also hosts the only Indian Business Museum in the country.
MBB Campus - Lastly, I got to know from my fellow mates at Mckinsey that this time we hired from IIM K for a front end consulting role too after a gap of 2–3 years, which will put it on the prestigious list of MBB campus.
In the end, I would like to mention that 20 years back it was an obvious choice to go for XLRI over IIM K but if I had to select between two now then it is not going to be an easy option.
PS: I am proud that I took XLRI; a proud alumnus!
