Heylo All,

i was researching for XIMR and bumped into this place.. cudnt get any info so thot putting a message here.. anyone around has an idea about the XIMR.. i hv been alloted that college for MMS.. plz advice.

Hey, even i have been allotted XIMR in the CAP. I am a general category home university candidate with a rank of 599. As far as I know St. Xaviers College holds a very high standing in the Bachelor Degree scene. In fact its one of the best! XIMR is associated with the same Degree College. As already pointed out by others, this is the inaugral year of the MMS course at XIMR.

Now comes the evaluation part. This is the first time XIMR will be conducting any Full-Time Management course, let alone MMS. So there is no way one can rate the faculty, placement cell, facilities, library etc. Personally, I think there is some degree of risk attached to doing an MMS from a new Institute, but knowing the reputation of Xaviers, I feel the risk is minimum here.

I havent made a decision either way just as yet. If I had to make a decision right now I would do so in favour of XIMR. Even Dad has advised me to go for it! But since I have some time on my hand, I will be spending the next day or two trying to get some more information on XIMR & some more opinions about the first year dilemma. If I come across any new piece of information I will post it here. Request all of you to do the samel.

Regards,
Sumit

This is XIMR's first year of inception. However they have been running a full time course under the aegis of the Xavier Institute of Management

The Xavier Institute of Management (XIM) was founded in 1963 as St. Xaviers Social Institute of Industry. Since 1971, it has been called the Xavier Institute of Management. Since its inception, the Xavier Institute of Management catered to the vast majority of working population that was seeking skills in management. This led to a very healthy interaction of industry and academics, which helped the institute go from strength to strength.

This year we have started the Xavier Institute of Management & Research (XIMR) with the objective of conducting an academically rigorous high quality postgraduate education programme in Management.

anyone got any update here???

Hi all,

I went to xaviers today and chked the facility.. pretty decent.. they have got their basics right..plus i happen to have a one to one talk with the director.. he mentioned that the course though is called MMS but its gonna be treated as a global MBA program. The students will be learning spanish and chinese language during the course.. + all the case studies will be derived from the portions of harvard, stanford, LBS, INSEAD and alikes..

its a 3 storey new building that they have made up.. fees is told to be anywhr between 1.2 - 1.5 lacs for a year (its explained that they r charging for giving good infrastructure and all..)

no compulsion on any dresscode.. just that decent clothing is expected. no compulsion on having a lap top or so..

classrooms main no laptops at all.. (not permitted and also does have wi-fi connections)

batches will commence by 2nd of august..

staff appeard to be helpful and polite..

thats all that i can roll out from the back of my mind.. incase if i hv more i will come back..

i would say.. not a bad choice.. with such a stringent attitute of the director and strong vision.. i can say that xaviers is on its way to make a grt mark.. and it will!

hey it takes the admission thru the MH cet exam as it is currently running on mms course under bombay univ

hence for ximr u need to give cet first
and if oms converting ur this xat score then it is not possible to get into it u need to get more than 99.5%ile thru your converted score to get into

hey do they take cat scores alone or is it essential to give CET.. and if u give cet n get a low score can u give ur cat score along with it for them to pick the highest?

hey friends ...! it was in mandotory disclosure of XIMR mumbai .....
tht they convert XAT score for admission for MMS in to CET scores ....!
hope this gona help you all ....!
thanks ke liye swtich diya hai .....!

Hi,
I've scored a 115/200 in CET = 90.10 percentile.

I would be having more than 3 years of work experience. Currently working with PwC.

Have done my Mcom as well .

Please let me know what are my chances to get through Xavier's MBA and MMS program.

Also when would the forms be out for 2010-2012's class.

Hi Puys:

I am a student with XIMR in 2nd Yr and am here to answer any of your queries that you may have regarding XIMR, the culture we have in the institute and the kind of students we are looking for to be a part of this institute.

At the outset, the breakup of the seats are:
Total intake 61 seats (60 + 1 J & K) of which
Roman Catholic Minority : 31 seats*
Institute level ( Management ) : 12 seats
CAP of DTE : 18 seats

* For Roman Catholic Minority seats, admission will be by the institute through MH-CET strictly on the basis of merit. (Please note they must have Domicile Certificate of Maharashtra).

Those who are Catholics and wish to apply in Minority Quota may call up at the institute from 9am to 4.30pm and get the information on the application through the minority quota. CET scores will be considered for it but it is only a hygiene factor. Subsequently, a PI is held by the Institute Directors and the final selection is subject to this complete procedure.

Read through Life at XIMR to understand more about the rich and strong learning culture that this B-School has to offer. Any queries that you have, you can direct them on the apt XIMR forum on pagalguy, and I will be glad to answer them.

Cheers!
