I am prabhu doing my first year PGDM here in KIAMS.this is just to help anyone who has query about KIAMS which takes less steps to promote itself.
KIAMS Is one of the decent b-schools in india which takes cat/xat scores for its absorbtion.
Its known for its brand name of kirloskar.
It is located in Mysore kiloskar industry campus which is not functioning or liquidated now.when I gave cat last year I had confusion with score of 83 percentile and 3.5 years work exp.this is not an astonishing score but there is a school to choose based on our scores.when I asked queries about KIAMS in this forum I got demotivating and discouraging replies.
Now, not just I have joined here but there are facts which people outside never knew.
Kiams is a family where it absorbs only 50 -60 students every year.it is known for its infrastructure where many b-schools lag.however infrastructure is not the most important point to emphasise when peoples query is always about placements.i am not here to boast that kiams gives great placements.but it has given 100 % placements for the past two years is a fact with an average of around 3.5lakhs.this year in my senior batch also out of 48 students as of now placed are 43.average now comes around 4lkh per annum approximately.
In my batch I have students with 98 percentiles in xat and cat.they have lost in verbal mainly. more than 80% of my classmates are above 80 percentile students.
It follows CGPA system for evaluation.
It has compulsory jogging and sports session.
It has introduced a concept of BALANCED GRADE CARD WHICH EVALUATES STUDENTS ON OVERALL PERFORMANCE ALONG WITH ACADEMICS
We have visiting faculties from IIM A and he himself has applauded us for our creativity in all our extra curricular activities which he said he has never seen anywhere. he was emotionally attached to his words when he was saying this.
We have tight schedule mostly all days which prepares us for corporate environment.
We also conduct lot of events in which even students from IIM come and participate. we conduct one event which is village event not a college event where it is done in harihar,where our college is located .it is a rural marketing fair which brings in lot of companies for 4 days. With our system constraints of attendance compulsory our students manage this very well.it starts from promoting this in and around 500 villages in and around harihar.

It is a decent institute only thing it is situated deep inside from Bangalore of about 240 kms from there.inspite of these it shows decent placements.

Hi, This is Sridhar. I was offered a spot admission to KIAMS recently with 96.74%ile in CAT 2008 with nearly 4 years in Philips till June 30th 2008. I would like to know the following-
a)KIAMS has started a new campus at Pune. How is the value of this campus compared to Harihar?
b)Does Kirloskar recruit management trainees form KIAMS? Is there any internal policy or cut off in that matter every year?
c) You mentioned that the average salary is around 3.5 Lakhs and 100% placement was there only since the last 2 years. How is it likely to be impacted by the recession?
d) Can you give me some more details about the type of companies that recruit from KIAMS..ie, are there more IT companies or are there all kinds of companies?
e) I would like you to explain more about your industry interaction. In particular about something called a capstone exercise and how it impacts your placements...

Hi Everyone...
I am a batch 10 passout.
First of all congratulations to all the selected ones. I on behalf of KIAMS family welcome all of you to be a part of our family.
Campus is awesome. For me it was a like a resort if compared to my engg hostel.:)
Hostel is pretty good. rooms are on a twin sharing basis so hope you get a roommate who has similar wavelength ...even if you get some weirdo dont worry things will get easier with time..
Its a fully Wi-fi enabled campus so all you facebook/twitter addicted people dont worry you can stay connected to all your friends all the time ;)
There are fully automatic washing machines on every floor so washing clothes is not a problem at all.
Weather is awesome so you dont need an AC or a cooler any time of the year.
Food is good enough but sometimes when its not that good you have the option of going out to eat (provided you aren't bunking).

Also, I have tried but failed to find much details about the pune campus. Is it new? Has it commensed its first batch?
Please let me know about this campus if you have any information towards it. A website address would be great

I found no information towards -
1.the same on KIAMS Website.
2. No seperate address or website mentioned anywhere online
3. application forms address harrihar
4. From few older posts iv also learnt that previous batch students selected for pune campus were requested to join harihar

Hi Prabhu. I have got call 4 KIAMS GD-PI. Can u tell me how many ppl r selected on that day? What are the things they look at? Also, what is the concept of the Learning team at KIAMS? Will I be in that team only for the next 2 years? Also, if u have financed ur study thru bank loan, did u face any hurdle in getting a loan, as KIAMS' AICTE approval is pending???? Also, pls guide me if I should accept the Pune Campus if offered? Please do reply.....Hoping that u would, Kevin

Hi Prabhu, my GD-PI was at Baroda on 23rd April, 2010 in the morning session of 9am. i was in the First Interview List. 18 ppl were called, bt only 7 turned up. the Dy. Director had come 4 d interview along with with Mr. Anant Ram. In the end, they asked me which campus would I prefer, Harihar or Pune? I said Harihar. But, the thing is that only I was asked the question regarding campus preference from my GD-PI batch. Will they select me or its just that they asked? Pls help
