IIHMR University alumnus Prabal Mukherjee has been hard at work, doing his bit to contribute to the fight against COVID-19. The Aspirational District Consultant, UNICEF, and former State Project Officer, Child Health, Government of Gujarat (NHM), has provided major support. This includes preparing the district action plan on COVID-19 and training around 900 participants with the medical college team including medical officers, staff nurses, ANM, MPW, ASHA supervisors, cleaning staff, ambulance drivers and block level managers. The training was on topics like basic introduction, environmental cleaning, lab investigation, mental health, community surveillance, contact tracing and dead body management. Mr. Mukherjee also facilitated a mock drill activity, process mapping and a live demonstration of sample collection and wearing PPE kits. He regularly visited an identified quarantine and isolation facility, created a home quarantine follow-up checklist and score card, and led training for the same through Zoom calls. In addition, he regularly attended video conferences with district level officials organized by the state NHM office. We’re proud of him!
