Amrita School of Business (ASB), Kochi welcomes you all to this thread.

Well, the purpose of this thread is to share our experiences from our school, we would like to update here

1) The daily dose of exposure we have here through the expert talks (what we call Colloquium/Colloquia)

2) The culture we follow and the festivals we celebrate here.

3) The events we participate (outbound), (well we might win or might not), but share the learning we derived from them.

4) The events we conduct and share our experiences of the interaction we have with students from various B-schools.

5) The multilingual/ cultural diversities we share and how we embrace each one of them

The reason for this thread is that we expect students from other B-schools or those who seek to join MBA to know what happens here and share their views, experiences and stories in return.😁

Regards,

Admissions Team

Amrita School of Business, Kochi

Hi people...!

So, right now the students at ASB, are gearing up to launch our national level Business fest ASTHRA, which is to take place on the 24th and 25th of January.A fun filled exciting mix of management games,ASTHRA promises to be a rewarding experience for the participants..

The past editions of ASTHRA have been successful..and this time the bar has been raised...We will keep you posted regarding this...

Keep watching this space for more details..😁

Theme of ASTHRA is Social Innovation. People do make innovations but at the end of the day they fail to analyze the impact of innovation on all the stake holders. ASTHRA focuses on giving new insights to the budding managers how to be socially innovative. Grab this golden opportunity to get enlightened by the talks of distinguished personalities and expose yourself to a variety of events.

I remember having gone through many of the Pagal Guy threads trying to understand ASB Kochi. I wish to help you in case you need information.

I joined ASB Kochi in 2013. I was hopeful that it will be great πŸ˜ƒ Because hope is the one thing that will help us find happiness.

Coming to reality, the experience has been much better. It is truly a temple of learning. One learns what to consider when taking decisions and not just how to do it. We are faced with challenges which prompt us to realize the importance of prioritization and before we know, we get better a small step.

I have learnt a lot from ASB Kochi in this one year. Thank you to ASB πŸ˜ƒ

This new year, what do you think ,are ASB Kochi students most excited about?

This is my fifth consecutive in Amrita.....Lots of experience, learnings to take home, achievements that can be held close to your heart

I have encountered several questions lyk - "Are u a devotee?","Is it Strict?","How is the curriculum?","What about the placements?"...all those anxieties which every MBA aspirant has...........

Choosing the right business school and getting into is an extremely tough & complex process. You get all sorts of advices, notions (Mostly imaginative) which turns u to a dilemma in picking the right one from the lot..I have gone through this process 2 years back... You have MBA Colleges in every nook & corner...every Tom, Ram & Harry is a MBA Graduate - So, the question is how you differentiate yourself...How u shout out in this highly competitive world...

I would define MBA as Learning which develops and moulds you - Mind, Bridging the gap & right Attitude.

Looking back, 2 years of hardwork,dedication,learning,activities,assignments....I have no doubt that I landed up in the right place....Not because I have a job in hand, but because it changed me - It molded me into a person capable of achieving my dreams....I was shy, never confident in my ability, But today that little girl is nowhere in vicinity. 2Years of MBA @ Amrita helped me discover the ME in me......Each day was a new experience - an experience which triggered confidence to give the best....

Discovering our strengths and neutralizing our weaknesses - that is what we need to figure out in these 2 years...Sometimes we find it ourselves, sometimes with the help of others.....In my case, it was a team - my family, teachers, friends...I had a wonderful 2 years, memories to treasure & an exposure that changed me into the person I am today........πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Hey All

Life at Amrita has been not just about academics alone.
We are moulded in a such a way that we are not just trained to be leaders of corporates but leaders of the society.
Yes I am talking about those initiatives that lets us give back to the society. Some of the major highlights include :

1. SAPG (Self Awareness Program and Growth classes) where the students get opportunity to meet and interact with differently blessed people and share with them the very basic purpose for which education is aimed at.The upliftment of all.The values of love and compassion is not just in the books but we experience it through these classes. We visited schools of differently abled children where we interacted with them.We care, shared and learned that real learning happens when we look around and give a helping hand to those in need and as always we do ,we made a difference.A real positive difference.

2. We also took part in the health awareness campaigns where we emphasized on healthy habits and regular health check ups for all.We conducted road shows and distributed pamphlets immensely interacting with people on cardiac check up programs offered at Amrita Institute of Medical Science and Research Centre. Yes , a lot of management concepts were put to live action.

3. We often conduct "Amrita Sanjeevani" programs that help us get a lot of insight into environmental sustenance and development. Cleanliness drives and colloquium are some of the major highlights.

As rightly stated education at Amrita is not just for living but for life as well.

Apart from the education that we get, don't you feel that the campus is very accessible?...Being at a convenient location, within the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences(AIMS) Campus serves as a huge advantage...Also, the strategic location of the campus near our very own Lulu mall, is a huge plus....What do you say guys?....😁

The culture of the institute was what attracted me to it....
Its a full oriented personal development programme, be it whichever course you opt.........
I know I can never get the same values from any institute.....First I joined Amrita in 2009 for my B.Sc(Visual Media),that was because of my passion for the course...........But then I started loving the institute and the values they stood for. When I decided to join for my MBA, I didn't have any doubt on which college to choose...........
I was very particular I needed Amrita.... I don't have any regret that I didn't join anywhere else........
I know I had made the right choice as I am ready to set my foot in the corporates πŸ˜ƒ

Its the last three months in asb.

I was thinking about the very first day of joining.
We were a group of 65 precisely from different academic backgrounds ,different states and tastes😁
Yes and always the familiar ones flocked to join a common groups and as always there were multiple groups and teams. Little did we know that we are are going to function in multiple teams selected by faculties and each subject would have a mix of students to make it function truly like a cross functional team.Yes , at Amrita ,we operate on a different mode.A mode of vibrancy and mixed team culture but before it all, we were into the segment called the CORPORATE THEATRE where the entire class collaborated , we played games and enacted dramas ,mimes and what not. Out of the comfort zones and away from the shell of inhibitions.

And from then on..there is never looking back ,any team any time the result is efficiency with effectiveness.

watch this space for more interesting team stories.πŸ˜ƒ

I sometimes cannot believe that we have come so far. When I joined Amrita ,I was told that I should try to savor every moment spent there because time would just fly.At that time,I didn't believe it.I thought that I had an uphill task ahead of me- Surviving for 2 years @ASB was not going to be easy.

I believe when you learn to conquer your fear, fear becomes your salvation, and survival becomes easier...What was I most afraid of?...I was afraid of change...and how it would drastically affect my life..

With every step that I took, my MBA experience thought me to embrace change, and accept it wholeheartedly.

It manifested in different forms- be it the erratic time schedules, the ever evolving group dynamics which ultimately changes the way you think...:)

I think that ,our memories at Amrita will be happy and joyful ones, because we have shared some amazing times here and somehow they will always overpower any bad or unhappy ones....

There were a lot of questions in my mind before i joined ASB,Kochi.

Should i continue my job and do MBA as part time?

Should i resign and do a full time MBA?

With a 60% mind i would say, i joined ASB for a full time MBA. Currently i am 200% happy about that decision that i took. A lot of change happened to me after joining ASB. Different activities like our B-Fest ASTHRA really helps someone to know about their hidden management talents. Professors are always there for the guidance but "HOW" we execute it really matters. That "HOW" will go on getting better after each decision we take. I am really able to feel that difference from graduate level to PG.

Its not about ASTHRA alone its also about the lecturers that we have here. We have well dedicated lecturers who will even work for say about 16hrs in day to make sure their classes are completed while making sure that no one has doubts.

Saying from my heart, this type of dedication make us think that if they are doing it for our us,then why can't we give it back with good results. Also i got to meet 3 best lecturers in my whole student life from ASB,Kochi and as always FRIENDS.

Colloquium's,placement training classes etc. all these make you a complete MBA student.

One thing i can ensure is that, you will never regret joining ASB,Kochi. (At the beginning you sometimes might, but i am sure towards the end you will change your mind πŸ˜‰)

ASTRA is just few days away. Pre event of ASTHRA is a cycle marathon for eye donation in which almost hundred students will ride bicycle starting from ASB campus till Kaloor (approx 20 km). This program is in collaboration with the ophthalmology department of Amrita Institute Of Medical Science.

For the past few days we are trying our best to raise the required amount for conducting ASTHRA. Though we study about negotiation, politics and other organizational behavior concepts, applying these in real life is a big challenge. The market is down due to rupee depreciation. At the end of the day when we manage to raise some sponsorship, trust me, the pleasure and satisfaction we feel will vanish away all our stress and strain.
The reality is far away from what we read. Meeting new people having conversation with them and convincing them is something we need to be comfortable as future managers. Two year life at ASB Kochi will transform you as a complete package and you can confidently walk in to your aspired destination....

Yes , As rightly said by my friends ..Time just flew.A trimester goes so quick that in a blink of an eye you are giving your term exams and there begins the next term with exciting papers where you get to choose your electives (second year) on business management ,Finance ,HR,Marketing,Operations and Systems. So its all about time , the better you get to manage the better you get to perform. What I observed so very particularly is the enthusiasm and motivation that the faculties exhibit during B-fests seasons where the students get opportunity to participate in Business fests conducted by several other colleagues. It is here that your talent actually gets tested.Be it sales ,finance ,HR you compete with several others in the field and you get to taste a bit of the corporate competition. It was in one of these B fests that I realized my talent that was so much moulded by the training I got from my college. The daily presentations and talks helped me tame my fear of crowd and yes to be the runners up was no silly task.A lot of hard work, creativity and knowledge was put to use,Thanks to my Team,My staffs ,My college. One of the best memories of my life......πŸ˜‰

When I started looking for a institute for my MBA....

I was confused for 2 things : Exposure & Placement.........
I got the right guidance from my senior from college who was pursuing MBA @ that time....Its always the alumini and the students who have the practical whereabouts the institute who can guide u through.....Any institute & media can project about the placements & exposure, but the truth will be only known to those who were part of it.......
Its always wise to discuss with those part of it.......I had made the right decision through it..Now when there is a bad market condition,I am happy that I cud get the best out of my decision & It is the right one I made 2yrs back...........

ASTHRA Social Innovation Conclave!!!
