i am a big fan of SHYAM BENEGAL and art movies, i am from Uttr Pradesh and he has shown very Peculiar and intersting nuances of hindee heart land . my fav are
! SURAJ KA SATAVAN GHODA ( have watched it ever time on TV)
2: MANDI ( A very poignant DARK COMEDY)
3: Umraao JAAN ( remarkabale piece on LAKHANAWI TEHZEEB and Culture)
and if i may add one more it wud be MAMMO ( i absolutely adored Farida Jalal)

anyways 3 great movies of all times for me include-
1. the shawshank redemption (i mean morgan freeman and tim robbins are just great)
2. the matrix (not reloaded or revolutions just the plain first one. the Wachowski brothers just didn't know when to stop did they)
3. you've got mail
although these movies are great as they are and i would watch them any goiven number of times i just would like to say that i would take the following desi ventures over the first 3 anyday-
