@gdm4u87 I have been working in IT sector for last 2 years.I have deep interest in Psychology and TISS Mumbai offers 2 courses in Psychology..but m a B Tech graduate(CS).Can I still apply for those 2 MA courses ??
But, I downloaded a sample paper from the TISS website itself which is containing programom specific questions in it. Is it something like that, they are gonna introduce program specific test from this time onward ?..nothing is clearly mentioned in the TISS info. brochure about the xam pattern but the sample paper is containing program specific questions.
I am attaching the sample paper here with.can u pls have a look into it & clear my confusion?
@Dips2802 : Hey Dips, i think this year the pattern has changed....the paper we are going to write is going to be one common paper for all the branches.....and the branch specific test will be the PIT (Pre-Interview Test) which will be held only if you clear the written test...even i have the same paper that you attached but that is 2011 ka paper na...abhi the pattern is chenged.....so i think the only 2 jobs we have as of now is to apply for the institute and then to prepare for the common paper 😃 😃 puys...please correct me if i am wrong.....good luck...!!!!
hello i am graduate in computers and have no prior knowledge about social work but the idea of an MSW has really caught my attention and i would really love to apply for it.. i have been preparing for CAT, XAT and all and just would like to get some queries out of the way.. im not certain if MBA is the right path for me.all i want to know is are there other people from the IT fields in the batch and weather social workers make enough for themselves as well... by enough i mean as per the need and not the greed!!! and if someone could put some light on the field of labour studies and globalization and also about social entrepreneurship
There are a few engineers and people from various other backgrounds in different programs of School of Social Work.
What I would suggest you is to explore the options that you are considering (management and social work and others, if any) in greater detail and find out what is it that really excites you and what is it that you are really passionate about.
Everything else (including money) is secondary and will follow for sure if the primary thing is taken care of.
@gdm4u87Hi Gaurav,I have applied for three programs namely:1.Human Resources Management and Labour Relations2.Education (Elementary)3.Media and Cultural StudiesMy queries:1.On the exam day, apart from Part I (which is common for all the programs) do I need to attempt program specific sections on the same day?2.So, does this mean that I need to be at the examination hall for extra 3 hours(supposedly: 1+1+1=3 for 3 programs I selected) to complete answering program specific sections? 3.Will there be any time gap provided between attempting each section?Looking forward for your response as I am quite in dark about the exam pattern of TISS.Regards,Dips
I guess there is some confusion here.
1. There is just one paper this time. This paper will be common for all candidates, irrespective of the program they have applied to. As per the website:
"The objective test will have questions related to Social Sensitivity; Knowledge on Contemporary issues; Analytical Ability, and Logical Reasoning."

But can someone please tell me the important topics to prepare for "Developmental Studies" and "Education" papers (on broader terms..of course!!)Yes i had some info from the previous year papers or sample papers but can someone throw some more light to induce lucidity!Also!! The extra brevity of the sample paper provided by TISS doesn't allow anyone to peep much deeper!! As per their sayings, there will be a single paper for all. This creates more ambiguity! So kindly help...!!

As I see in the model paper, there are questions on GK, VA and QA.
As described on the website:
"The objective test will have questions related to Social Sensitivity; Knowledge on Contemporary issues; Analytical Ability, and Logical Reasoning."
How much deeper do u want to peep? I am afraid u won't get to see the actual paper till the day of the exam
Also, they have clearly mentioned that there will be a single paper for all applicants, irrespective of the program they have applied to. Barring the questions on social sensitivity, it's quite similar to other entrance exams which test a candidate's aptitude. Where is the scope for more ambiguity here?

I would like you to kindly make me acquainted with TISS's school of Media and Culture Studies...it's whereabouts ....future scope while pursuing from TISS etc....this year I am also targeting MICA Ahmdbad. As u mentioned earlier that like other B'schools TISS doesn't get's ur future affected with ur past...well said..!!..so atleast i can hope that my 2yrs I.T xperience will not prove a drawback for me..!!
