HiThis will be my first ever attempt in TISS , I will be applying for M.A. in HR only. As I know till last year academic record was not taken into account for admissions. But the form asks you to fill up your academic scores. My queries are:1.)Is it first time TISS is asking for academic score2.)Will it play a role in determining my selection3.)I am aged 28 and already a PGDM in marketing will it have any negative impactI know that it's clearly mentioned that selection will be based on WT,PIT & PT totalling 225 but it's a request from the students who are already pursuing HR from TISS that is past acads and some worrisome factors for me (that I have mentioned above) plays a vital role in final interview or it's just knowledge & passion for HR which matters? I will be greatful if you are able to provide some insight into it.Thanks

Hello. I am interested in HR and was suggested TISS by almost everyone. My only query is that I heard TISS does not have a placement week and that people have to manage placements on their own. Could you please clarify?
Ok thanks a lot. Just wanted to know whether I should apply there or not because I wanted to do MBA but it provides the MA degree. But Iread it in the previous posts that it is equivalent. So I guess I should. Thanks a ton for your help.
An MA course is more oriented towards theory as compared to a more “technical” course like an MBA. Most MA students go on to pursue Mphil/Phds in their chosen fields , which involves years of often painstaking research and coming up with an original thesis. There is a perception in India that Theory and Research , particularly in the Social Sciences are in some way inferior to more technical courses which are seen as having more “practical” value. The perception is no doubt mistaken but in a world where a person's success is measured by the salary he/she commands , such views invariably get reinforced.
MA in Development Studies gives an introduction to theories of Politics , Economics , Sociology , International Trade etc. and how they relate to the idea of “development”. Apart from TISS , IIT-Guwahati and Ambedkar University (set up by the Govt. Of Delhi) also offer this course. South Asian University Delhi – a joint venture of the Governments of South Asia viz. India,Pak,Afghanistan,Bangladesh,Bhutan,SL – offers a similar course titled MA in Development Economics.
Besides Azim Premji University Bangalore too offers this course although it is a private university and relatively new.
hello puys!!! can anyone tell me the difference between the course offered in women centered practice and MA in women studies? i mean apart from the name and which one has a better career option?
@c2c I have already said the following in this forum: When you are dreaming of passing out from an institute of the calibre of TISS, you should have an "I Don't Care" attitude towards placements
This is for everyone concerned about the placements:
Being a student here myself, I have had the privilege to go through the entire process and believe me you, the more I talk about it, the less it would be.
Please don't ask me for concrete, objective data as I won't be able to reveal those due to obvious reasons that most of you know. And if you don't want to believe until you hear it from an external person's mouth, ask any person in HR--novice or veteran. He/she would tell you. Even he/she won't have the 'data' that you might be looking for. But that will give you a fair bit of idea as to what it means to be here during this time of the season
