Thanks

Hi Tanmay

Please find the answers below-

1) How much gmat score do you think will be sufficient for WHU , i have 8 years of experience and in the role of project manager in IT.

Reply: WHU has a minimum requirement of 600 GMAT score, anything above that should be fine with your work experience.

2) What you thought of housing , are you going to take private accomodation ?

Reply: I've initially opted for the WHU accomodation, but hasn't finalized on anything yet.

3) Do you know german or planning to learn german ?

Reply: No, I don't know anything in German, but I'm planning to learn basic German before leaving.

4) Do you have any info on placement or do you know how indians have been placed post whu mba ?

Reply: You can try and get the placement info. from the school itself. I know few of the Indians from the previous batch they got placed in desired roles.

Cool thanks Vikx. I do appreciate your quick reply on my question. Will be in touch once i hear something from WHU

Guys, I have no idea how is the place Germany for MBA ? I have heard a lot about Germany because of Technology. Can anyone tell what are scopes available for an MBA grad. Btw, Germans don't speak English that much, and they don't prefer English guys so much. I know all this as my organization deals with German clients.. Thnx ! Deep

@VIKX Hello Vikx, i have been trying to find students from previous batches but of no luck. can you direct me to where i can get in touch with some. it would be great if you could give me some contacts yourself. thnx and much appreciated!
@deepdutta2402 Your understanding is correct, in fact it is more or less true for all Non-english European nations. MBA is an upcoming thing in Germany, they mostly followed a different education model before the early 90's, which is when Bologna education system was established, since then MBA courses are on the rise. Having said that MBAs are still valued, if not more than but equal to the Management Diploma holders within the country.

Traditionally, Germany is a technology focused country and if you intend to be in the HiTech industry post MBA, you might just be able to overcome the German language barrier more comfortably. Again, German is not a mandatory thing, but without the German know how it's difficult for sure.

My advice will be to not carry a generalist view but evaluate your aspirations and your game plan. Going to Germany neither guarantees a job placement post MBA nor depletes your chances of getting the placement post MBA. Undoubtedly, the cost is a big factor that works in Germany's favor in comparison to the US/Canada/UK etc.

Hope it helps.
@pagalsha I'm not really sure how you are contacting them, but this is the approach I normally take.

1. I find out the MBA groups on the Facebook, through that I get to know the people in those MBA batches.

2. Then I either send them a message over Facebook or try google their linkedin profile.
If possible I try to connect on linkedin. Mind you, linkedin gives access to their Twitter accounts, emails, and websites/blogs.

So, here are the WHU MBA Facebook groups for your reference, you need not require to join them, but you can find the members of the groups:

thnx man for the info..!

@deepdutta2402 Mention not.
Hi VIKX

I am also planning to do my MBA from Germany. I will be giving my GMAT on 2nd November.
And my TOEFL on Dec first week. When can I apply for admissions ?
What is the cost of doing MBA from Germany?
Is there any scholarships awarded to the students .... need based or merit-based?
@Nick7 Hey Nick, good to hear from you. Admissions are already open for WHU MBA. WHU MBA starts in the month of March. It's a 15 month program. Tuition is Euro 35,000 for the WHU MBA. There are many scholarships that WHU offers you can have a look over here-

Hope it helps for a start

hi,

any updates on placement of Indian students from last batch...

@VIKX
thnks VIKX
what is the economic scenario there at the moment?
is it safe to do MBA from germany?
@Nick7
Hello again, well no doubt being a part of Euro Zone, Germany has its own pros and cons, but into 2012 Germany's economy continued be stronger relative to local neighboring nations.

The German economy continues to be in robust shape but increasingly feels the inner-European adjustment process and uncertainty stemming from the sovereign debt crisis. German growth forecast for 2013 to 0.9 percent from 1.4 percent, the same expansion rate projected for this year.

Btw, check these two articles that came in yesterday and day before yesterday about the German Economy -

In general, Germany is the largest national economy in Europe, the fourth-largest by nominal GDP in the world, and fifth by GDP (PPP) in 2008. I suggest you to read these early 2012 articles on a general outlook on the economy-

So, bottom line is- it's the global economy which isn't going well at the moment, considering euro-zone crisis it has somewhat strained Germany's growth. Yet, Germany remains a strong economy.

Other factors to be considered are influx of immigrants to Germany, typically every year 2.5-3 lac students go to Germany and out of which there are only 5-6.5K Indians, which is staggeringly low number. Germany is in dire need of quality skill force and they are certainly putting a faith into students coming for masters, because you get 1 year automatic extension after your course, and later by showing appropriate finances you can get extension every year. So, it actually brings the onus on the students, how willing are they to mingle in the German environment and culture ? If you are ready to shed the barriers, Germany is quite open.

Anyway, I guess it turned out to a long post. Hope it helps.

Prost !

Hi guys. I'm presently doing my MBA in Leipzig, Germany at HHL (www.hhl.de) which is ranked as one of the best B-schools in the country.

I agree with whats written above, but I would like to add that jobs are definitely available here for Indian students. Quality labour is at a premium here and students from India are generally at an advantage (as long as you can take the effort to speak the language). There's a large expat population here but not many Indians and the Germans are generally open to having new cultures here. The Career Services dept here at HHL invite some of the best companies in the market and they visit the Uni looking for prospective students to join them.

Also, when compared to an MBA in any other part of the world, a degree here works out much cheaper and there are loads of opportunities for scholarships/living stipend support as well!

:)

@VIKX
thnks VIKX
ur above post isnt long but helpful and above all FULL OF RELIEF :)
i too feel that german economy is one of the strongest economy of the world... but its very disturbing when i read the negative stuff in the newspaper... like today in Business Times i read the Siemens (german telecom giant) is planning to cut down thousands of jobs in the near future ...
i just hope everything gets well there soon... hehehehe.... shame on an indian like me praying for German economy to get better instead of ours... :P
thnks again
