The Course
HSS has been offering an M.Tech course in Human Resource Management since 1982. With the objective to meet the demands of contemporary business, it restructured the course and has been offering it as Masters in Human Resource Management(equivalent to MBA in HR) since July 2010.
Details About the programme Programme: Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM)
Admission: July 2012
Duration: Two years
Number of students: 30 Students
Selection: Through CAT, group discussion, and personal interview.
Minimum Qualification: Graduate in Engineering/Postgraduate in Science/Commerce/Humanities and Social Sciences with 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent.
Course fee: It is a self-financing course. The admission and tuition fee per semester is Rs 75,000/-(Rupees seventy five thousand only) excluding hotel, mess, and establishment charges.
Programme Details: It is a four-semester course. The first semester will expose students to the basics of business management. The second and third semesters will cover the HR-related core subjects.The dissertation work will start during the summer vacation, at the end of the second semester. The fourth semester will focus on specific and specialized HR issues.
Important Information
Department of Humanities & Social Sciences (HSS) use CAT for short-listing candidates for its MHRM programme. IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in the conduct of the programme.

The following are the guidelines pertaining to 2012-2014 MHRM Admission:
(i) Graduate in Engineering/Postgraduate in Science/Commerce/Humanities and Social Sciences with 60% marks in aggregate or equivalent.
(ii) Selection will be based on application rating, performance in CAT and candidate's performance in group discussion and personal interview. Postqualification work experience in industrial organizations will be given due
consideration.
(iii) The Department follows Government of India norms regarding eligibility and reservation of seats for qualified Scheduled Caste/Tribe candidates, Other Backward Classes and Persons with Disability.
The candidates seeking admission to the MHRM Programme of HSS must complete the following procedures:
Step 1:
Take the CAT- 2011 Examination
Step 2:
(a) The application fee is Rs.1600/- (sixteen hundred) for general candidates and Rs. 800/- (eight hundred) for candidates pertaining to SC/ST/PH category.
(b) The starting date for receiving applications is December 27, 2011. The candidate may complete the online application form on or after December 27, 2011 by clicking here http://10.57.4.97:8084/MHRMApplications
(c) The candidate may then obtain a demand draft for the application fee made in favour of "IIT Kharagpur" payable at Kharagpur.
(d) Then, the candidate has to send the print-out of the completed online application form along with photocopies of proof of qualification and experience, and the requisite demand draft to: The Assistant Registrar (PGS&R;) Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur Kharagpur - 721 302 (W.B.)
(e) The last date to receive your duly filled application form is January 30, 2012.
Please note that Group Discussion (GD) / Personal Interviews (PI) will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur at Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.
The following are the dates for GD/PI at different centers:
a) Mumbai: 10th to 12th March, 2012
b) Kolkata: 23rd to 25th March, 2012
c) Delhi: 29th March to 1st April, 2012
d) Bangalore: 2nd to 4th April, 2012
Candidates selected for GD/PI will be intimated through email, registered post/courier by Mid-February, 2012. The date, time and the venue of GD/PI will be mentioned in the letter.

MHRM , IIT KGP admissions are profile based besides the cat scores. As it is a well known fact that IITs turn to CAT for the first time this year & it is really hard to predict the cutoffs now.MHRM do not solely depend on cat scores as weightage is given to profile too which include your extra and co curricular activities and prior job experience .
And your Second Question . Regarding the placement . IIT used to offer M.Tech in HRM from 1982 but coined as MHRM from 2010 with JMET intake . The first MHRM batch is yet to be placed . The placement season begins from MID-December . I can only comment on the Internship Placements of 2010-12 MHRM batch which ranged from 15000-35000 per month .

Genenral MBA with Specializations Finance,Marketing , Operations,SCM is offered by the VGSOM,IIT Kharagpur an autonomous body . MHRM- Specialization in HR is offered by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Kharagpur. Both of them are taking in CAT scores for their admission process, they do have a separate application and admission process.

As per the eligibility criteria you are in . But regarding the CAT score and profile it is again dependent. And CAT scores are always miracles and surprises . So i would suggest wait till the results of CAT were out.

As mentioned earlier its an M.Tech course in HRM taken through GATE score. PSUs Used to visit the campus as the final placement is taken care by Placement Cell IIT Kharagpur students used to land themselves in the pay scale of 6.5-8 L CTC per year . But most of the students used to opt for Ph.Ds in foreign universities. So I would not ask you to rely on the placement figures of M.Tech programme which is a free course with stipend.
And regarding the Average work experience

as you have said that VGSOM and Dept of HSS are completely different dat means we have to apply separately for both the courses...
dat means we have to pay 1600 fr HSS and separately 1600 for VGSOM

Valid query regarding the application but its an internal process where we sort out accordingly . But as for as i remember last year we mentioned MHRM on the post . But let me confirm this officially and revert back here .
And yes you have to apply separately for both the courses .
