There will be no Spot Round in MHT-CET 2016

There will be no spot rounds in the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test 2016 to fill up the remaining vacant seats after four rounds of Central Admission Process (CAP). As per a document released on the official portal of Maharashtra’s Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), there are approximately 93,985 vacant seats in the state’s 4,300 engineering colleges, which accounts to about 72% of the total seats are vacant.

“If the seats are vacant even after conducting four CAP rounds, then how will it fill in the fifth or spot round? Students who cleared the entrance exam, and met the eligibility criteria were allotted seats,” said an official from DTE.

After Round four, DTE has given clearance to Private colleges to allocate vacant seats as per their requirements.

Another notification released on the official portal is that the academic activities for all engineering institutes in the state will commence from August 8, 2016.
