The other disciple of Ramakant Achrekar

To the man

who was once the quickest to take 50 ODI wickets breaking Sir Dennis Lillee’s record & still is the quickest Indian to do so

who has an unbeaten Test century at Lord’s Cricket Ground (a feat which even the “God” hasn’t been able to achieve in his 200-test career) having played just 26 Test matches

who scored the fastest 50 in an ODI (Mr Dependable took one ball extra to do the same)

who got us the first Test match victory in “Down Under”(where traditionally,we have always been “down” and “under”) in the 21st century

who took the least number of matches to take 200 wickets & complete 1000 runs (in his 133rd match breaking the previous record held by South African Shaun Pollock in 138th match)

who was a part of the winning team of the inaugural T20 World Cup

Dear Ajit Agarkar

Thank you

for all the memories,

the improbable wins,

the much needed wickets,

the invaluable runs you hit at the end of the innings,

the crucial catches and

the accurate long throws from the boundary causing innumerable run-outs…

Although the timing is right, but the way you are retiring isn’t.

Only if people realized you deserved a better “farewell” !!!
