Street Plays by Students of ITM Navi Mumbai, for CIDCO Vigilance Week Celebration, 2nd- 4th November 2016

As directed by the Central Vigilance Commission, New Delhi, to observe Vigilance week from 31st October to 5th November 2016, CIDCO, which has developed the city of Navi Mumbai, organized street plays all throughout Navi Mumbai.

CIDCO invited ITM Kharghar to arrange the street plays by our students to perform at various locations in busy areas of Kharghar node.

CIDCO has regularly invited ITM to organize street plays for creating awareness about vigilance to eradicate corruption in daily life.

ITM, as was done in past many years, willingly accepted the invitation. The theme of the plays were – ‘Public participation in promoting integrity and eradicating corruption’.

The students of ITM worked on the topic and Abhishek Sharma of HR batch wrote the script for the street play. The play narrates small life incidences experienced by a common man of India which unknowingly leads to breeding corruption. It also provides possible solutions to eradicate corruption by beginning with oneself. We normally opt to tread on comfort zone by bypassing the State Rules. A little restraint can do wonders in eradicating corruption from common man’s life. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world ”, the play tells the audience to start with oneself and the world would change soon.

The play is interspersed with lots of humor seasoned with crispy punch lines. It kept the audience enthralled with the otherwise dry topic of corruption. The plays were appreciated by the members of public and by the CIDCO authorities.

At 18 different busy locations in Kharghar the plays were performed on 2nd, 3rd and 4th Nov. 2016.

In the closing ceremony held at CIDCO HQ at Belapur on 4th Nov. 2016, the CMD Mr. Bhushan Gagrani appreciated the efforts of ITM students and gave away CIDCO trophy and certificate to the ITM Team. Prof. Arjun Naik, who heads the Cultural & External Events, told him that “ITM has been supporting CIDCO programs and will continue to do so in future”.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Vivek Phansalkar, Addl. DG ACB Maharashtra appreciated the efforts of ITM B-School in taking up the topic of corruption through post graduate students.

The students in the team expressed thanks for providing a great opportunity to learn many aspects of event management, presentation skills, team building, stage presence, writing skills etc.
