SCTIMST PG 2017: Here is everything you need to know about the DM/MCh entrance test

Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Trivandrum will be conducting its entrance examinations for DM and MCh (Doctorate of Medicine and Master of Surgery) on November 10 and 11. The venue for the examination is Achutha Menon Centre for Health Science Studies (AMCHSS) at the SCTIMST campus. These exams are for candidates who wish to enrol themselves into the January 2017 academic session. Candidates must download and print the admit card for the examination from the SCTIMST official website.

DM

    • Cardiology
    • Cardiovascular imaging and vascular interventional radiology
    • Neurology
    • Neuroimaging and interventional neuroradiology
    • Neuroanaesthesia and Cardiothoracic & vascular anaesthesia

MCh

    • Cardiovascular and Thoracic surgery
    • Vascular surgery
    • Neurosurgery

Any candidate applying for DM must have a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or a Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in the said speciality. Similarly, those applying for MCh must have a Master in Surgery (MS) or a DNB in the same speciality.

The written theory entrance examination has a weightage of 40 out of a 100 marks. The hour and a half long test consists 100 MCQs that the candidate must answer. 50 out of these questions will be based on the post graduate programme completed and the remaining 50 will be from the post-doctoral programme applied to, by the candidate. Each candidate must obtain a minimum of 50 per cent marks in the written test in order to be considered for the further rounds of selection. There are a total of 22 seats for DM and nine seats for MD.
