National Marketing Conference 2014: LBSIM

Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management announces its Annual National Conference titled ‘Marketing Strategies in Emerging Economies’ to be held on February 8th, 2014. The conference intends to focus on the strategies which organisations are incorporating to succeed in the emerging economies.

The aim of the conference is to discuss strategies that could be adopted by marketers from emerging economies. Several Organisations have done well and several could not cope with the demands of the change in the economy. The change in such emerging economies requires scaling up the operations to compete with the global multi-nationals. Rapidly shifting behavior as well as aspirations of the consumer class requires different set of marketing strategies. This is further accentuated by the onslaught of huge technological revolution which has been metamorphosed by the application of smart phones etc.. All this has changed the ways in which people do business.

Essentially the business which was generally rooted in the static model of brick and mortar structures is giving way to dynamic market place. With all emerging economies registering a higher economic rate of growth compared to developed economies, large numbers of people are migrating from bottom of the pyramid to higher levels of economic strata. This results in higher purchasing power of a very large populace. This presents very lucrative opportunities for the marketers to cater to the needs of the ever rising aspiring classes. Any marketer of substance understands that nearly one percent of shift to the next aspiring class materializes in the shift of more than 10 million consumers in the context of the emerging economy like India. Such shifts almost tantamount of population volumes that are twice the population of Finland.

To address these complex and dynamic issues in emerging economies the conference shall be attended by eminent luminaries from corporate and academia. This ensemble of speakers representing national and global companies would analyse and present their view point through the prism of their vast experience. In this backdrop, we intend to answer the following questions through this conference:
