Meet the Budding Entrepreneurs of MICA

When we think of MICA, more often than not terms like ‘hubspot of creativity’,’ marketing & advertising talent’,’ vibrant & diverse’, immediately come to mind. Sure, MICA is all of these things – but MICAns are now taking it up a notch!

With the support of its Entrepreneurship Development Cell & the MICA Comcubator, MICA nurtures the entrepreneurial side of its students as well by providing them with a platform to develop, promote & commercialize their innovations that possess the potential to bring about a change in the Strategic Marketing & Communications sector. In spite of the academic rigor of the PGDM-C course and other extra-curricular activities keeping them busy, some talented MICAns are already trailblazing their way to corporate success with their very own business ventures:

Sahil Avi Kapoor [1st year student, PGDM-(C), Co-founder @ Martedo]

Martedo is a full-service youth marketing venture that provides cost-effective online & offline branding solutions to startups, multinationals, corporations & public organizations. Martedo was conceptualized as a service that could help differentiate an engaging brand from a boring one by changing the way it communicates with its audience.

When asked about how Martedo is different from other agencies, Sahil replied: “We customize our offerings based on the client need. The trick is to understand the client’s offerings as well as the target market they are looking at, and then draw out a plan that complements their business goals.”

Mrinal Parekh [1st year student, PGDM-(C), Co-founder @ GlobSol]

While working on a project to develop a general health monitoring system, Mrinal’s team realized that their prototype could be extended to help battle neurological disorders  as well. They developed GlobSol – a wearable device in the form of a watch, that tracks the emotional escalation of a child, and sends an alarm to the parents whenever things are about to get out of control.

Globsol has successfully completed clinical trials at National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences, Bangalore. Sounding optimistic about the company’s future, Mrinal says: “If our work inspires more people to join in and start ventures that help, we would be more than happy to collaborate.”

Vismaya Jain [1st year student, PGDM-(C),  Co-Founder @ PopMyResume]

PopMyResume is a personal marketing service that works eponymously, helping a resume “pop” out from the rest by virtue of being accessible, interesting & interactive. An entire team of graphic designers, editors, content writers & market researchers have been slowly amassed who personally go through every resume, making sure it is as impactful as possible.

With some interesting tie-ups and exposure on the cards in the coming months, Vismaya says: “Bringing in the very spirit of entrepreneurial exploration into account, we’re pushing and driving into a hitherto unexplored facet of networking & connectivity.”

Shreshth Trehan [2nd year student, PGDM-(C), Co-Founder @ The Travel Company]

The travel company aims to change perspectives and offer people a whole new outlook on traveling. In doing so, it aims to move away from traditional travel information services to provide its customers with something new, relevant and accurate.

On being asked about the future for the travel company, Shreshth offers a simple but powerful plan: “We hope to cover all of India and provide the most basic information to travelers about any destination that suits their profile.”

Chirag Mendiratta [2nd year student, PGDM-(C), Partner @ The Booty Call]

As the name suggests, The Booty Call is synonymous in Delhi with late night foodgasmic experiences.  The Booty Call Café is a place where you can hang out with friends in the day time, and at night you can get food and essentials at your doorstep within 45 minutes.

A partner with the venture, Chirag  says:”Our vision is to provide the best food and service in Delhi around the clock. We plan to expand in Delhi/NCR first and then move to other cities. Our short term goal is to develop a flawless service for a hassle-free experience.”
