JBIMS Summer Placements 2013-15: Vodafone, Citibank and JP Morgan largest recruiters

Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), Mumbai recently concluded the summer placement process for the MMS batch of 2013-15.

Vodafone (7 offers),
Citibank (5 offers) and JP Morgan (4 offers) were the largest recruiters. According to the institute, all participating students received stipends.

Sector-Wise Drill Down:

BFSI & IB: Citibank, Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC, J P Morgan Chase, ICICI Bank, Nomura, CRISIL, Development Credit Bank, HDFC Property Ventures, ICICI Prudential, AMC, Metlife, Tata Capital, CIMB Securities, Finstream recruited students in this sector. Roles like investment banking, equity research, transaction banking and retail banking were offered to students.

FMCG & PHARMA: These sectors recruited 23% of the batch. In the FMCG sector, Hindustan Unilever Ltd., Procter & Gamble, Colgate-Palmolive, ITC, Dabur, HCCB, General Mills, Marico, Nivea, and Kellogg’s offered roles. In addition to sales and marketing roles, profiles like operations and corporate finance were also offered. Students were also recruited in pharmaceutical and allied industries in companies like GSK Pharmaceuticals, Abbott, DSM, Sanofi, Merck Pharmaceuticals and Boehringer Ingelheim.

Manufacturing, Conglomerates & Real Estate: Profiles across multiple domains were offered by conglomerates such as Mahindra & Mahindra, Raymond, Larsen and Toubro and Godrej and Boyce. Roles in FMP, General Management, SCM, Reverse SCM, Logistics and EPC were offered to students. In the real estate, chemical and manufacturing sector, companies such as Schlumberger, Cummins, AkzoNobel and Jaipur Rugs hired students.

Consulting & Information Technology: These profiles went to 10% of the batch. Consulting roles were offered by reputed companies like Jones Lang LaSalle, Tata Consultancy Services, Capgemini, Fidelity Management Research and Wipro among others. Real estate consulting and HR consulting were some of the profiles offered in this domain.

Media & Telecom: Companies like Vodafone, DraftFCB Ulka, Brand Care and Channel Play offered roles in this sector.

Others: Some other participating companies were Flipkart, Ginger Hotels, Mattel Toys, Syngenta and People’s Group.

Function-Wise Drill Down**:

**The function-wise distribution is shown for 104 students from the total participating lot of 115. According to the institute, companies have not disclosed profiles offered to the remaining 11 students.


Finance: Citibank, HSBC, ICICI Bank and Standard Chartered Bank offered roles in Corporate Banking and Consumer Banking. Procter & Gamble and Hindustan Unilever Limited offered profiles in Corporate Finance.

Sales & Marketing: 28% of the batch was hired for this function. Roles in this function were offered by ITC, Dabur, HCCB, Colgate-Palmolive, Vodafone, Flipkart, Mattel Toys, DraftFCB Ulka, Abbott, Sanofi and Merck Pharmaceutical.

Operations: Profiles in this function were offered by Jaipur Rugs, Godrej and Boyce and Cummins. Schlumberger offered roles in Procurement and Logistics. Procter & Gamble offered roles in product supply as well.

General Management: Mahindra & Mahindra and Raymond offered roles in this function.

Consulting & IT: TCS, Wipro and Capgemeni hired for roles in the IT function. Jones Lang Lasalle offered consulting profiles.
