IIM Udaipur Summers 2013-15: Reliance General Insurance, Hindustan Petroleum and United Biscuits largest recruiters

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Udaipur recently concluded the summer placements for the PGP batch of 2013-15. Out of the total batch strength of 110 students, 5 students have secured opportunities outside the campus. The institute also informed that one student was not eligible for summer internships because he had to repeat the year but had completed his internship last year. A total of 56 companies participated in the process while 52 of them made offers. Among the 104 students who sought internships through the institute, 95 received stipends. International roles were bagged by 6 students.

Sales & Marketing was the leading function hiring 40% of the batch. Hiring for the Operation/Supply Chain function went down to 8% this year as opposed to 18% last year. Reliance General Insurance Co. Ltd. (10 offers), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (6 offers) and United Biscuits (6 offers) were the largest recruiters this year.

Function-Wise Drill Down:



Marketing: In the Sales & Marketing domain, UAE Exchange offered profiles in Brand Management. Bajaj Auto Ltd. and Trunz Water System offered roles in Market Research. Marketing Strategy roles were offered by Infoedge (Naukri.com) and Dover India Pvt. Ltd.

Finance: ICICI Bank and Sundaram Mutual offered roles in Equity Research while Xpress Money offered roles in Compliance. Genpact and GE India were some of the other recruiters.

Consulting: Profiles in this domain were offered to students by KPMG, ICRA Management Consulting Services Ltd. and Reliance General Insurance Co. Ltd.

Operations: Cummins, Snowman Logistics Ltd.and J K Lakshmi Cement Ltd. hired students for the Operations function.

Analytics: Profiles in Analytics were offered by Infotech Enterprises Ltd. and Quantiphi Analytics Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

HR: Xpress Money, Vedanta-Hindustan Zinc Limited, Infotech, and RECL recruited for roles in HR.

Business Development: Business Development profiles were offered by Talisma and Indus Momentus Business Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

BFSI was the most prominent sector hiring more than 25% of the batch. GE India, ICICI Bank, Reliance General Insurance Co. Ltd, Genpact, Xpress Money and UAE Exchange recruited in this sector. Profiles ranged from retail banking, corporate finance, portfolio management to project finance, etc. The consulting sector saw participation from recruiters like KPMG, ICRA Management Consulting Services, Boston Consulting Group, LittleR Associates and Anand & Anand. Profiles such as Management consulting and Technology consulting were on offer. In the Consumer Goods sector, Mapro Foods Pvt. Ltd and United Biscuits (UK) Ltd. were some of the recruiters. Many Sales and Marketing roles were offered in the FMCG sector. In the manufacturing sector, Cummins, DCM Shriram, Jaipur Rugs and Bajaj Auto hired students. Conglomerates like Vedanta and Dover Corp. also extended internship offers to students in Strategy, Marketing and Human Resources.
