The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has made changes to the eligibility criteria for the Postgraduate Diploma course in Journalism and Mass Communication. Earlier it was mandatory for students enrolling in the IGNOU PG diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication to have a minimum of two years of work experience to be eligible for pursuing the course.

IGNOU has now lifted the mandatory work experience requirement from the course with immediate effect. Now candidates with a bachelor’s degree in any discipline can apply for the course online through the official website of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU): ignou.ac.in.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication is usually for 1 year. However, candidates can complete the course in 4 years. The course emphasises on providing hands-on experience to the candidates interested or working in the media industry and provide the required knowledge required for their professional development.

The main objectives of the program are to provide the students with a better understanding of media and its impact on the society in the present day and age. Candidates can apply online for the course, the last date for online applications for the July 2020 course is on September 30, 2019.

Step 1: Log on to the website of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU): ignou.ac.in

Step 2: After that, click on the ‘Register Online’ tab and from the drop-down list, click on ‘Fresh admission.’

Step 3: After that, register on the website with the requisite information.

Step 4: Once registered, log in using the provided login credentials

Step 5: Fill the form with required personal details, qualification details, and correspondence details

Step 6: Upload the scanned copies of the required images, documents/ certificates and the signature of the candidate

Step 7: Pay the course fee through the preferred online mode and click ‘Next’

Step 8: Once the course fee is paid online, a copy of the completed form will be displayed on the screen, download and take a printout for future use.
