Five Core and Essential Elements of Project Management

Successful accomplishment of any task or a project involves efforts in a multiple number of sectors, sometimes by a multiple number of individuals. Success of a team or an organization depends on the success of the individuals involved in the project. Leaders with many years of experience understand that leadership is not simply about what they can achieve on their own, but leading their sub-ordinates on the right path with certain standards in place. When group goals are met with motivation and hard work contributed by everyone in the team- nothing can hold off the journey of getting ahead.

Sine indefinite periods of time since the untagged period when common people stepped up to become leaders in their communities with examples of leading others, a number of management principles have come into play. The root elements of these management principles haven’t changed much since then. Managers of our times use these elements to inspire top performance among the members of their teams. Let’s run through these wonderful principles of a Manager that makes Project Management easier:

1. To Forecast and Plan: Defining and planning a certain project is the foremost element of management. A manager has to play the role of a sculptor that chisels out the blue-print of the project in hand and devises a do-able & effective plan for rolling it off. The plan has to cover all kinds of possibilities and must be geared to face setbacks that may slower the journey.

2. To Organize: A leader is always followed by his sub-ordinates for advice and followups. They look forward to his ability to organize and allot things to responsible individuals. This has to be precise and justified, for only the best courses of action lead to the best series of results.

3. To Command and Coordinate: This is one tricky part! While a manager has to lay out schedule and targets for others to achieve by breaking the bigger goal into smaller crumbs; he also has to ensure the correct implementation through application of a commanding behavior, if necessary. Coordinating in sections where guidance, assistance or change is necessary will increase the chances of right timing of the deliverables.

4. To Monitor and Evaluate: It is important to stay aware of what is going on at all corners of the ongoing project. Monitoring performance by each teammate and matching it with the planer is one important attribute of a manager. This helps in evaluating the real-time position of the actual progress taking place. A few managers constantly ask for employee feedback to balance targets and performance.

5. To Close: There is no guarantee that a project shall reach its level of completion without any challenges slowing it down. Problems, issues, loopholes, shortage or any other disaster may befall blocking successful completion of a project in time. A good manager is responsible for finding solutions to any kind of problem that may hinder the progress of a work. It is his responsibility to bring a project nearer to its expected & orderly end. Controlling and resolving any pending task in the desired schedule, a manager has to eventually bring a project to its successful closure, within the targeted date.
