1. Nitish Kumar takes oath as Bihar CM the for fourth time

i. After
high drama in the last few days finally, Nitish Kumar has proved his
majority in state assembly and took oath as a Bihar Chief Minister today. He
has become CM of the state for the fourth time.

ii. Janta
Dal United (JDU) leader Nitish Kumar had resigned from the post last year on May
17, 2014 over JD(U)’s debacle in the general election.

iii. Earlier
Jitan Ram Manjhi resigns as Bihar Chief
Minister ahead of the trust vote in the state assembly.

iv. Former
prime minister H D Deve Gowda, several chief ministers – Mamata Banerjee (West
Bengal), Akhilesh Yadav (Uttar Pradesh), Tarun Gogoi (Assam) and INLD leader
Abhay Chautala, were also present on the occasion.

v.
Besides Kumar, 22 ministers, including three women, were also administered the
oath of office.

2. ICC World Cup 2015: India breaks the hoodoo, beat
South Africa by 130 runs

i. India defeated
South Africa by 130 runs in a Pool – B match played in Melbourne.

ii. Shikhar Dhawan’s
dazzling century 137 runs off 146 balls and Ajinkya Rahane’s 79 runs off 60-balls
set the target of 308 to the Proteas.

iii. South Africa couldn’t
reach to the total and all its batsmen was bowled out at the 177 in 40.2 overs.

iv. This was India’s
maiden World Cup win against South Africa after having lost the clashes in
1992, 1999 and 2011.

v. Shikhar Dhawan has
awarded with Man of the match for his brilliant performance.

3. Former
President of Maldives, Mohammad Nasheed arrested

i. Former President of Maldives arrested under
anti-terrorism laws for allegedly
ordering the arrest of a senior judge Abdulla Mohamed in 2012 that triggered
violence in the Indian Ocean island nation.

ii. He resigned as a
President in 2012 after heavy protest against his order to arrest senior judge
Abdulla Mohamed.

iii. He served as
the fourth President of the Maldives from 2008 to 2012 and was one of the
founder of Maldivian Democratic Party.

4. Simona Halep lifted WTA championship title

i. Simona Halep lifted WTA championship title
after defeating Karolina Pliskova in the final in Dubai.

ii. She defeated Pliskova in a
straight sets 6-4, 7-6 to win the 10th trophy of her career.
