1. Millions across the Globe celebrated the first International Yoga Day

(i)  Nearly 36,000 people set a record in India, making it the World’s Biggest yoga session at a single venue, in New Delhi on Sunday.

(ii)  Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who participated in the event thanked the U.N. and it’s 193 member nations for their support to the proposal of celebrating June 21st as the International Yoga Day.

(iii)  India, on Sunday set two Guinness World Records, one –  largest number of  participants doing Yoga at the same venue and second — the presence of largest number of nationalities in one place.

2. MP based Journalist killed by a mining Mafia

(i) A 40 year old, Jabalpur based hindi daily Journalist, Sandeep Kothari was allegedly killed by a mining mafia for he refused to withdraw a case he filed in court.

(ii) The burnt body of Sandeep was found in Wardha district of Maharashtra on Saturday night.

(iii) According to the Police sources all the three identified behind the murder were involved in illegal mining and chid fund companies.

3. China opens Nathu La after 53 years for Kailash – Manasarovar pilgrims

(i) In one of the latest confidence building measures between India and China, the Chinese authorities on Monday opened a new, safer and convenient route for Indian Pilgrims undertaking the arduous Kailash – Manasarovar Yatra via the Nathu La. 

(ii) The pass had been closed since the Sino-India war in 1962, Chinese Ambassador to India received the first batch of Indian pilgrims on Kailash Mansarovar Yatra in Tibet, opening the new route through the Nathu La pass in Sikkim.

4. FSSAI to set up an expert group to regulate salt, fat and sugar 

(i) The Food Safety Standards Authority of India, now plans to issue guideline to regulate salt, sugar and fat in all Indian food products sold at the eating joints, to this effect the FSSAI has formed an expert committee.

(ii) The 11-member expert panel formed by FSSAI comprises of doctors, dieticians and others from AIIMS, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and various other institutions.

(iii) The committee is to recommend prescriptions of regulations for display of fat, sugar and salt on food products sold and served in eating joints or catering facilities.

5. Indian Stock Market soared by 414 points on account of good monsoon 

(i) The benchmarks sensex surged 414 points to 27730.21 in realty and bank shares as above normal monsoon raised the hopes of RBI rate cut.

(ii) The sensex rose straight seventh day, rupee firmed up and Financial and IT Companies looked bright.

6. Roger Federer wins Gerry Weber open for a record eight time

(i) The World number two Roger Federer  defeated Italy’s Andreas Seppi to win the Gerry Weber open for a record eighth time on Monday.

(ii) Federer won 7-6 , 6-4 in the final of the ATP Tour event in Halle, Germany. 

(iii) This makes it Federer’s fourth title in 2015, previous three victories being in Istanbul, Dubai and Brisbane.
