CAT 2013: Petitioners cheer as Madras Court asks IIMs to reserve seats for them, notices to all IIMs, Prometric

The Madras High Court today, sent notices to all the 13 IIMs to respond to the questions fielded by CAT 2013 candidates in the scores discrepancy case. Additionally, the court has also directed that the IIMs reserve seats for the 8 petitioners who are spearheading this agitation. The court, in an interim order has also asked the Ministry of Human Resource Development and Prometric to respond to the questions fielded by the 8 petitioners.

It may be recalled that the Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court had also issued similar notice.

The petitioners had also asked for the admission process (currently on in the IIMs and other institutes accepting CAT scores) to be stalled till this matter is solved but court did not agree and instead asked for the seats to be reserved for the 8 young adults who have taken on this fight.

Abhishek Leel, one of the 8 petitioners is jubilant. “We are inching towards our goal. Earlier the court sent notices to the IIMs, now seats have been reserved. This should put pressure on the IIMs to solve this matter quickly.”

Dhivyha Aasuri, who is leading the struggle from Chennai said that “though the court did not agree on staying the ongoing admission process, that it has asked for reservation of seats for the 8 of them is a big step and a positive one.”
