5 things to do after writing an entrance examination

Entrance examinations for engineering, medical and management are tough to crack. Aspirants preparing for the tests put in their heart and soul throughout the year to crack the exam with excellency. But their work doesn’t stop here. The real toil begins after the examination.

SEARCH FOR THE BEST COLLEGE

Whether you are appearing for JEE, AIPMT or CAT, knowing the top colleges for the course of your choice is important. Once you have given the exam, start making a list of the best colleges relevant to your field of study. The list may vary for each student based on their location prefer and financial limitations. While listing preferential colleges, students should keep in mind certain important parameters (viz. placement record, courses offered, reviews etc.) to make their choice.

PREDICT YOUR RANK

This can be done using an expert tool available online like PaGaLGuY. Rank can be predicted only after you calculate the estimated score, which can be done once the answer keys have been released. Your approximate rank will help you know which college and branch you could get admission into.

PREPARE A BACKUP PLAN

One should be mentally and strategically prepared to face the consequences of a low rank. For instance, you may have desired admission in IIT Bombay, but couldn’t achieve a rank required to materialise that desire.  Shortlist a backup college so that you don’t end up wasting an academic year trying to overcome the disappointment or make hasty decisions in damage control

MAKE A CHECKLIST OF AVAILABLE COURSES

List out the most demanding courses within your field of study. There are several specialised courses within the engineering domain like computer science, electronics, biotechnology, metallurgy, etc. Weigh your options and level of interest for each specialisation before settling on a college.

BE POSITIVE

Post examination, students usually feel more stressed speculating their results. Barrage of question and ‘what ifs’ loom around in their heads. Ideally, students should not scrutinise their question paper after the exam. The moment you finish your exam, think about a bright future.

Follow the above points and craft a better future for yourself.

All the best!
