WBJEE 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The board has defined the eligibility criteria for the WBJEE exam and candidates who wish to appear for the exam must be aware of the eligibility criteria. West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board has only a few eligibility criteria which differs from the course to course. Candidates should proceed to submit the application form only if they meet the eligibility criteria for the entrance exam. WBJEE has laid the strict policy in verification of the candidates. There will be two papers in WBJEE 2019 which are paper 1 for mathematics and paper 2 for physics and chemistry combined. There is no limit to the number of attempts for the WBJEE exam.

Candidates must check the following eligibility criteria:-

  1. Candidate should be above 17 years of age though there is no upper age limit. There is an upper age limit for admission in Marine Engineering Course which is 25 years.
  2. Candidate should have born before 31st December 2002 to be eligible for the WBJEE 2019 entrance exam.
  3. Candidate should be a citizen of India and can be from any state of India.
  4. Candidates will be treated as the domicile of West Bengal who is residing in West Bengal since last ten years or whose parents have the permanent address within the state of West Bengal.
  5. The General Academic Qualifications for admission according to different courses are as follows; marks should be scored in theory as well as practical in the related subjects:-
For Engineering Must have passed 12 Exams with Physics, Mathematics and any one from Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, Computer Application
For Pharmacy Must have passed 12 exams with Physics, Chemistry and any one from Mathematics, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, Computer Application
Marks for General Candidates Minimum 45% in all the 3 Subjects
Marks for SC/ST/OBC/PWD Minimum 40% in all the 3 subjects
Marks in English 10+2 for engineering & pharmacy Minimum 30%
Board Recognized either by Central Government or State Government
For Marine Engineering Must have scored at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics each
Marks in English for Marine Engineering Minimum of 50% marks
For Architecture Must qualify either in National Aptitude Test in Architecture – NATA by Council of Architecture (COA) or Paper 2 of JEE Main

Must have minimum aggregate of not less than 50%

  1. The qualification criteria are different for each institute, so the candidate should check with the Institute for the minimum required marks.
  2. The information provided in the application form will be verified during the counselling process, and if the candidates fail to meet the eligibility criteria, then it would lead to debarment from the admission process.
  3. Students who are appearing for the 10+2 examination can also apply for the WBJEE entrance exam. However, they will only be offered the seats if they meet the minimum score as per the requirement. They would need to submit the mark sheet during the admission process along with other necessary documents.
  4. Candidates should submit the domicile certificate before 31st December 2018. This is for all those who have been living in West Bengal for more than ten years.
  5. Family’s income for the financial year should be submitted before 31st December 2018, and there is no restriction on the date of issuance for caste certificate.
