TISSNET Elgibility

Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) is a public funded research institute with many campuses across India with its main university in Mumbai. This institute is Asia’s oldest for professional social work education. Found during the Bombay presidency of British India by Sir Dorabji Tata trust, it is now a deemed university.



Educational qualification

Any student with a pass record in any bachelors’ degree can apply for TISSNET exams. If the candidates are in their final year, they must ensure that they have cleared all the papers in their previous years (no backlogs). If candidate has failed their final year, they are not eligible for applying to any course offered by the institutes.

Age limit

There is no age limit for applying to appear for TISSNET. There exists no upper range for applying to this test. If a candidate has cleared any bachelor’s degree or diploma degree in any subject area, they can apply for this exam.

Number of attempts

There is no restriction on the number of times a candidate can take the exam. It is up to the candidate to select the number of times they want to appear for TISSNET.

TISSNET is a mandatory examination that the candidates who wish to apply to Tata Institute must take in order to gain admissions to the 53 master’s courses offered by the institute. The computer-based examination is conducted every year during the month of January. The exam is constituted of three sections that will be tested: Logical Reasoning, English Proficiency and General Knowledge, held for 2 hours and 40 minutes containing 100 MCQs.
