RBI Assistant Exam Information

RBI Assistant Notification 2018 is expected to be released soon in the month of either November/December 2018. There has been a delay in the exam process this year as compared to previous years however candidates must continue to prepare for the exam. The RBI Assistant Application process will be in the form of an online application on the RBI official website https://opportunities.rbi.org.in.

The notification which will be released by RBI will contain exam dates, registration process, tentative vacancies and exam pattern.RBI Assistant vacancies are for pan-India recruitment. RBI Assistant recruitment process is for Assistant posts in different branches of RBI across India. The exam is to be conducted in 2 phases – Preliminary & Mains. While prelims will be qualifying stage, final merit list will be made on Mains score basis. This is followed by a Language Proficiency Test (qualifying in nature).

Job Description and Salary

RBI Assistant is a clerical-level job. Assistant role is to provide support for smoother functioning at RBI branches. The basic pay for the RBI Assistant is Rs. 14650/- per month (i.e. Rs. 13150/- plus two advance increments admissible to graduates only) in the scale of 13150-750 (3)-15400- 900(4) -19000-1200(6)-26200-1300 (2)-28800- 1480(3) – 33240 – 1750 (1)- 34990 (20 years).

RBI Assistant 2018 Vacancy

Vacancy list for RBI Assistant posts has not been released yet as the Official Notification is yet to be released. RBI is expected to release 600+ vacancies this year for the post of Assistant. For 2017, RBI had released a total of 623 vacancies, a similar figure can be expected this year.

RBI Assistant Important Dates

RBI exam process for RBI Assistant 2018 has seen a delay this year but Notification can be expected to be released soon – i.e. in November or December. All important dates and schedule will be notified through the Official Notification for RBI Assistant 2018. The exam process will tentatively been in late-December or January and prelim results are usually released 2 weeks after Exam date. Following this the Mains exam will be conducted on the basis of which RBI Assistant post vacancies will be filled.

RBI Assistant Eligibility

RBI notifies candidates of eligibility required to appear for RBI Assistant exam. Candidates should ensure they meet eligibility criteria before they apply. Eligibility is defined in two criteria – Nationality, Age Limit and Educational Qualifications. There is no limit specified on number of attempts allowed for this examination.

The basic eligibility conditions have been presented below:

Nationality

Candidate must be an Indian citizen as per RBI guidelines

Educational Qualification

To be eligible, candidates must meet the following academic conditions –

  • Hold a Graduate degree from a University/ Institution or Board recognised by the Government.
  • The candidate must have scored a minimum of 50% at degree level (Passing-class for SC/ST/PWD candidates) in aggregate.
  • Basic Computer knowledge is also required

[Candidates in their final year of their degree programme may also apply for the exam as long as they are able to produce

Age Eligibility

Minimum Age – 20 Years | Maximum Age – 28 years

As per Government guidelines, RBI offers age relaxation for certain categories as stated under –

RBI Assistant Registration

RBI Assistant 2018 Registrations have not yet begun as the Notification is not released for 2018 process. However, once released, candidates will need to apply on RBI official website – https://www.rbi.org.in. RBI is expected to start registration process in November/December.

Step-by-Step RBI Assistant Application

Step 1: Once you have followed the above link, click on the top right corner button titled “Click Here for New Registration.” This will direct you to an online application form.

Step 2: The RBI Assistant Online Application has a few stages that need to be completed sequentially. The first stage is to fill in the Basic Information such as candidate’s name, parents name, date of birth etc.

Step 3: Next step is the Signature and Photograph upload stage. Following specification must be followed for the uploads.

After successful upload, you can preview the images and then click on Save and Submit/Next button.

Step 4: This will bring you to part 3 of the RBI Assistant 2018 Online Application Form. In this section you are required to fill up academic qualifications and details.

Step 5: Preview all information submitted by you in the Application process and correct/verify if there are errors in filling in the information. Please note that details once submitted cannot be altered later so candidates must be mindful during application process.

Step 6: Application fee payment is the next stage and candidates have the option of payment through Credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking etc. Below is the category-wise application fee to be paid by candidates.

Step 7: After successfully paying the Application Fees, click on submit button. Your application form will be successfully submitted. You will also receive a payment confirmation screen which you may print for further reference.

RBI Assistant Exam Pattern

The RBI Assistant Exam consists of 2 examination stages – Preliminary and Main and a Language Proficiency Test as the final qualifier. The Preliminary examination is merely a qualifier for the Mains Exam stage. The RBI Assistant Mains Exam is the basis on which candidates will be recruited to RBI Assistant post. Following this a Language Proficiency Test which will be conducted in the language of the State/UT concerned.

RBI Assistant Exam Pattern for Prelims

The RBI Assistant Prelim Exam is of 100 marks and of  1 hour duration. It is a Computer-based test (CBT) and negative marking will be applicable for wrongly answered questions. The preliminary examination has three sections: Reasoning Ability, Numerical Ability and English Language.

The conducting authority will determine a cutoff depending on which candidates will qualify for Mains Exam. The cutoff criteria will be sectional as well as total and will vary on the basis of State/UT. The result for preliminary exam is usually released within 2-3 weeks of examination, following which qualifying candidates will appear for Mains Exam.

RBI Assistant Exam Pattern for Main

The RBI Assistant Mains Exam is of 200 marks and of  2 hours 15 mins duration. It is a Computer-based test (CBT) and negative marking will be applicable for wrongly answered questions. The RBI Assistant Mains examination has five sections: Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, Computer Knowledge and General Awareness.

The conducting authority, RBI will determine a cutoff (both sectional and overall)depending on which candidates will qualify for post of RBI Assistant. The cutoff will be decided State/UT-wise depending on available vacancies.

Language Proficiency Test

After the Mains examination, candidates will be called for Language Proficiency test. The language tested will correspond to the State/UT concerned. This stage is qualifying in nature, i.e., marks will not be counted towards Final List preparation.

RBI Assistant Syllabus

The syllabus for RBI Assistant can be divided up on the basis of sections as they appear in the examination. The sections applicable in the RBI Assistant are – English, Numerical Ability and Reasoning. The Mains in addition to these three sections also additionally has 2 more sections – Computer Awareness and General Awareness.

RBI Assistant Exam Cut off

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) publishes the cut off list after the exam and every applicant would need to secure minimum marks as per cut off or above to qualify the selection process. The cut off is considered as the minimum marks obtained by the last recommended candidate in each category. The cut off helps in better preparation of the examination as applicant will analysis the previous year papers and cut off.
