JEE Main 2020

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a national level entrance examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to assess the eligibility of the candidates and offer admission into various IITs/ NIITs and several other prestigious institutions across the country for undergraduate programs such as B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch, and B. Planning.

The JEE Main examination is conducted twice every year in an online mode by the National Testing Agency (NTA). There have been some changes in the JEE Main 2020 examination pattern that aspiring students should make a note of. According to the changes in the examination pattern, the marking scheme of the papers is also been adjusted and candidates appearing for the examination should be well aware of the same before starting the preparation.

The JEE Main examination consists of two papers, both conducted in an online mode. The Paper I is for the candidates applying for B.E./B.Tech courses and Paper II is for the B.Arch/B.Planning. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has added a section for numerical value questions in both the papers along with the multiple-choice questions, however, Paper-II for the B.Arch/B. Planning is now completely separate.

The Paper I of the JEE Main 2020 examination consists of 20 multiple choice questions and 5 numerical value questions for each subject (Maths, Physics, and Chemistry), i.e., a total of 75 questions. Candidates will be given 3 hours to complete the paper and the total marks for the Paper I are 300.

For the multiple-choice questions, candidates will be marked four marks for each correct answer and one mark will be deducted for every wrong answer and whereas for the numerical value questions, each correct answer will be score 4 marks, and there will be no marks deducted for the wrong answers. The numerical values questions will not have any negative marking.

The Paper-II of the JEE Main 2020 examination consists of three sections. The first section will consist of 20 multiple choice questions from Mathematics and 5 numerical value questions, and the next section consists of 50 multiple choice questions related to the newly added aptitude section and the final section, i.e., Drawing consists of 25 questions.

The weightage for the multiple-choice questions will be 100 marks and the weightage for the multiple-choice questions from aptitude will be 200 marks and the weightage for the drawing section will be 100 marks. The drawing section of the Paper-II will be conducted in an offline pen and paper mode, and the other two sections will be conducted in an online CBT (computer-based test) mode. The Paper-II of the JEE Main examination 2020 will be conducted for a total of 400 marks and the time duration to complete the paper will be 3 hours.

For multiple-choice questions, candidates will be marked four marks for each correct answer and minus one marks for every wrong answer. For the numerical values questions, four marks will be allotted for each correct answer, and there will be no negative marking for the wrong answers.
