IIFT 2021 Eligibility Criteria

The IIFT examination for the fresh batch of 2019 has already started and the candidates are now just waiting on the results. The candidates need to follow a few eligibility criteria to be allowed to appear for the exam. The candidates who are unable to or fail to follow the criteria will not be allowed to give the exam.

The candidates mainly need to have a bachelor’s degree to be able to appear for the IIFT exam. There is no marks limit or requirement for the application submission.

The students who are in their last year of any bachelor’s degree are also allowed to apply for the examination. These students will need to clear their bachelor’s exams before they get admission through IIFT.

Eligibility criteria
  • Indian students
  1. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree of three years from any recognized college.
  2. No age limit for IIFT exam.
  3. Candidates in their final year of graduation are applicable to apply for the exam.
  4. Work experience is not necessary.
  • Foreign or NRI students
  1. They can apply on the bases of their GMAT scores.
  2. NRI-sponsored candidates do not come under this category.
  3. The allowed GMAT score should be of after 2015 and it should reach the authorities before 31st March, 2019.
  4. The application will be available till 15th September, 2018 and the application fee will be INR 4500/- or US$ 80.
Reservation criteria
  • Other backward classes (OBC)- 23% seats
  • Scheduled caste (SC)- 15%
  • Scheduled tribe (ST)- 7.5%
  • Non- resident Indian (NRI)- 4%
Scholarship schemes
  • The total family income from all sources should not exceed INR 4.50 lakh per year.
  • If the student fails to pass the final exam of each year of the degree or even a terminal exam, his scholarship will be automatically terminated.
Number of attempts

One can apply as many times as they wish for the IIFT exam as there is no age limit. For one registration the candidate can only appear for the exam once.

IIFT has a total of 360 seats in their campuses- 220 seats in the Delhi campus and 140 seats in the Kolkata campus. Some seats out of the total sanctioned intake are reserved for candidates belonging to minority groups or special categories.

The candidates are advised to be well aware of the criteria for the minorities, scholarships and eligibility before they apply for the examination.

The candidates will not be allowed to take admission in the college even if they clear all the selection processes for the IIFT examination if they fail in any of the exams in their graduation degree.

The candidates who do fail in any of the exams will have to first clear those exams in their graduation before they re-apply for the IIFT exam. As mentioned above, both Indian as well as Foreign or NRI students is allowed to apply for the IIFT examination if and only if they follow the eligibility criteria mentioned above.

As students from all around the world are allowed to apply, the competition level is very high for the IIFT exam and all the candidates will need to give their best.
