GRE 2021 Registration

Step 1: Create ETS Account

  • Your first step to registering for the GRE is creating an ETS Account to register online (if you do not already have one).

  • Register for a GRE test
  • Sign up for the free GRE® Search Service
  • Order test prep materials
  • View scores
  • View, change or cancel your registration
  • Order Additional Score Reports
  • Access the free GRE Diagnostic Service

Note: When entering you details, make sure to verify your Name and Birthdate. These must exactly match the details as mentioned in the Government ID that you will provide at the test centre. There is no provision to change this once you have registered yourself.

Step 2: Find Suitable Test Centre and Dates

The ETS provides an online calendar for aspiring GRE candidates to know availability of dates and seat availability at various centres. The computer-delivered test is offered year round, and you can register online or by phone.

  • The ETS website allows you to look at tests available in two-month windows.
  • When entering your location details, be as specific as possible. Entering “India” as location will not help. Preferably input the city where you wish to write the test from itself. It seats are not available in that given city, the Test Availability Finder will show you the closest alternative options.

Step 3: Register for the Test

  • You can only register for the test when you are logged in to your ETS Account.
  • After you’ve selected the date and time you want, click “Next.”
  • Fill up the remaining details as instructed

Step 4: GRE Fee Payment

  • After Step 3 is over, you will be redirected to the payment page.
  • The GRE Test costs $250 per attempt.
  • This fee can be paid with any major credit or debit card
  • After payment you will be redirected to a payment confirmation page.

Step 5: Print GRE Appointment Confirmation

  • Your GRE Appointment Confirmation will be emailed to you.
  • Make sure to take a print out of this as you will need to carry the same to the examination centre.

Note: At the time of GRE Registration you will not need to provide identity proof however this will be necessary on the test day. The only ID proof accepted by the ETS is your Passport. Hence, you must ensure that you are in possession of a valid passport by your test date.

Reschedule GRE

  • You can reschedule your test online.
  • Rescheduling your GRE General Test must be done a minimum of four days before your appointment. Otherwise, your test fee will be forfeited. [Eg: the deadline to reschedule a Saturday appointment at a testing location in the United States is Tuesday.]
  • A fee will be charged for rescheduling your test registration ($50)
  • Appointments cannot be rescheduled beyond 1 year of original appointment date.
  • You will need to provide your appointment confirmation number and the full name used to make an appointment when rescheduling.
