GATE 2020 Admit Card

GATE Admit Cards will be available tentatively from 3rd January onwards by IIT Madras.

  • The Admit Card for GATE 2020 will ONLY be available on GOAPS website
  • Candidates will have to log-in to the GOAPS portal to access downloadable admit card.
  • Without Admit card and ID proof, candidates will not be permitted to sit for GATE 2020.

GATE Admit Card – How to Download

Only candidates who have successfully registered for GATE and were eligible for the exam will be able download the GATE admit card 2020.

Step 1: Access GATE Admit Card

To download GATE 2020 Admit Card, you have to login using the GATE enrolment ID and password through GOAPS.

It must be noted that the GATE 2020 admit card will not be sent to any candidate via post or email; they will need to download it from the GOAPS website only.

Step 2: Verify all details mentioned on the Admit Card.

These details will include:

  • GATE Entrance exam date
  • Time/shift of exam
  • GATE Registration number
  • Candidate Full Name
  • GATE paper selected by candidate
  • Examination centre name, address and centre code
  • Photograph of the candidate as uploaded during registration.
  • Candidate Signature
  • Exam day instructions such as reporting time, exam duration, rules.

Photograph and signature should be clearly visible. This is mandatory for Admit Card to be valid. 

On your GATE 2020 Admit card you will find personal details as entered by you during registration, choice of exam paper, exam venue and date/shift. The assigned exam centre and date will not be altered.

Step 3: Download and Print Admit Card

  • After verifying admit card, download the same for future reference.
  • Print 2 coloured copies of Admit card to carry along on examination day. You will additionally require a valid ID proof and photocopy of the same to be carried with you to exam venue.
  • The photo ID should more or less match with the appearance of the candidate as on exam day.

ONLY ORIGINAL and VALID photo ID proof will be accepted.

To make sure that Photograph is visible and clear, print the admit card on an A4 size blank sheet. In case of unclear GATE admit card Photograph and Signature after printing according to specifications, write to the Zonal Gate Centre to request issue of new copy of Admit Copy. This depends on which IIT is coordinating the exam for your region.

Exam Day Instructions

On the examination day, candidates must carry admit card along with valid photo identity proof. This may include any of the following (as specified during application filling):

  1. Passport
  2. PAN card
  3. Voter ID
  4. Aadhaar-UID
  5. College ID
  6. Employee ID
  7. Driving License

It is advisable to reach the exam hall prior to reporting time and locate the exam centre well in advance. The candidates will be allotted their seats post verification 45 minutes prior to the exam. They will receive 20 minutes to read exam instructions before the exam begins.

Biometric information including photograph and finger print scan for randomly selected candidates can be captured prior to start of the examination.

Calculator, mobile phone, watches or other such electronic devices will not be allowed inside the examination hall. The exam screen will however have a virtual calculator for the use of candidates.

On completion of the exam, candidates may not leave the examination hall until the entire duration of the paper is completed.
