Hi,

Any day... IIM ... cant get a brand value better than this anywhere else....

infrastructure... best of all IIMs... 194 acres of technology everywhere...... 2 Mbps of internt coneectivity for only 200 junta.... go down to indore and check it out... and do check properly... each and every room (BTW, its like a 5 star hotel room)....

life is hectic... but enjoy themelves... party almost every week.... there is lot of group project... group work etc etc.... or write to any of the guys there and check it out....

If u r not joining IIMI...or for that matter any IIMs ... u r missing somehting....

Bye

ET?.. is that not the paper which uses soft porn and tabloid type stories (check out their recent series on the IT professional..) to sell..
I wouldn't really give much thought to the quality of their output..
(Come to think of it better not give any to any of the rankings)

Well said reuben....cudnt agree with you more. I fail to understand why these rankings become the basis for institute selections. One of the rankings(dont remember which...but for those who care...can go chek them up at career form site at www.cflogic.com) ranked IIML above A B C. So does that make IIML better than ABC ??
People...get out of the my daddy strongest mentality...and look at things practically. IIM I and K are good....but my friends received offer letters from K last year a week after the session had started to join within 10 days. So much for the brand value, when the institute can not even fill up its quota of seats in time!!
If some one wants to compare...then compare faculty...infrastructure..placements...quality of students....not sum crap rankings !!

..
this is gonna be a non-value-add .. reactive posting.. do excuse..

I am sure IIM-I is a very nice place..
But you really need to give better reasons than you just stated..

For the query in the top post... What I posted in the other thread started by Nitwit still holds.. so do excuse if I avoid repeating myself..

XLRI

It still commands more brand value than IIMI. MICA will give u a niche job and with low pay.
Also IIMI has had problems recently with its Director being sacked for embezzelment .For I to have the brand value it will take atleast 7-8 yrs more and by then Brand value wont count in ur career. All that will matter then is ur work.

cheers

Hi,
I would suggest you to join iim I. I agree with the earlier message that it is the ranking of the insitute down the line that matters. If you see XLRI, it was established way before the IIMs. So its brand building is almost over. However IIM I is the youngest IIM and it has already shown its potential to be among the top Bschools. ET ranked IIM I No.5(by both students and recruiters) whereas XLRI was ranked (No.7 and 6 resply). Again when you pass out is it better to be an IIM pass out.
Visit the IIM I website and u will see the various activities(acads, cul and other) taking place there.
Well , I have call from IIM I and I have no second thoughts about joining the institute.
Post a message in the forum or mail me at pramod_potti@yahoo.co.in once you have made ur final decision as we are forming a group for the IIM Indore batch of 2004-06.

Nitwit,

Are you the one who had started the SP Jain (Mktg) vs. XL (BM) thread? If so, looks like you have lots of options but not the big ticket ones like ABCL.

Probably people would have faced similar choices about 8-10 years back between L-XL too (maybe they still do). Eventually IIMI will move clear of XL (in some areas it may already be). In the future, when you say you're from any insti it is the standing of the institute at that time that matters, not what it was when you studied there. Though probably the institutute's brand influence is strongest only during the first 5 years or so. However it is said that XL is very good for Marketing. I don't think MICA even enters into this comparison.
Of course if you have appeared for ABCL interviews, at least L and maybe B/C will have waiting lists which if converted will be better than both XL and IIMI.

G'luck.

Disclaimer: Am an XL waitlister with no IIM calls so have a vested interest in your withdrawing!
