Dear Mansie,

Hope you’re well. I’ve been following your feedback and profile evaluations and I love the way you handle each query!

I'm planning to apply for the FT MBA programs for the fall 2018 intake. I am looking at schools in US and Canada (Rotman). I’m also considering INSEAD, LBS and ISB. My dream school is GSB, especially because of its D-school (my profile will give you an idea as to why). I was hoping if you could give me an honest and critical feedback of my profile so I can plan my next steps better.

As some information is too personal to be shared on public forum, I'm sending it over via personal message. I hope that is okay! :)

Warmly,

Shikha

Hi Mansie,

A cleashy but constantly perturbing(for me) question, do I really stand a chance to get into ISB PGP?

10th - 82.4%

12th - 74%

Graduation - 8.4/10 B.Tech, ECE (from WBUT)

Work experience - 7.5 years in TCS (Got two early promotions)

Current role - Business Analyst/Team Lead

International experience - 23 months

GMAT score - 640 (trying to improve in the next attempt)

Have been part of the editorial team for the college magazine.
Considering my experience is on the higher side, could you please review my profile and let me know the feedback. Could you also let me know if there are any other colleges where I might have a chance getting into.

Although I am planning to appear for GMAT again, but I do not want to miss on the deadlines. So, I am planning to start off with the applications now. Is that a good decision?

@Susmita_banik Hi Susmita, you know what needs to be improved and you're working on it ( GMAT). So that's great. Working on your applications side-by-side is a good idea. You do not need an endorsement from anyone for that. Regarding your self-confidence, this is a great poem that inspires me and my kids, so I'm sure it will work for you too!

Our Greatest Fear —Marianne Williamson

it is our light not our darkness that most frightens us

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous,

talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.

There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other

people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest the glory of

God that is within us.

It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,

we unconsciously give other people

permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,

Our presence automatically liberates others.

Good Luck and God Bless!!

Again, its how you portray your strengths and the FIT. The competition is there and will increase year after year. And not only Canada, it exists everywhere. More so in India.  Do you want to let it deter you? Despite competition, many candidates with percieved common profiles apply and get in!That is the beauty of success.

“Goal” what does this term signify to you?

I’m doing research for my third book for which I need a general perspective on the above statement.

Your participation/help will be highly appreciated. In lieu “I offer to review the goals essay/strategy of the two people whose responses inspire me.”

Please share your views in the comments section below to keep it transparent.

Thank you and God Bless!!!

Hello Mansi,

Greetings!

I am 26, female.

GMAT 760 (VA-42, QA-50, IR-4, AWA-6)

Chemical Engineer, 2011, NIT Warangal | GPA - 7.32

10th - 88.6% | 12th- 88.2%
Advertising professional with 4 years of work experience. Currently a creative supervisor in Dentsu, a leading Japanese network ad agency, handling some of the biggest brands in auto, telecom, tech and F&B respectively. Before advertising, I have one year of supply chain experience with India's most well known FMCG giant.

As one may deduce, I shifted to advertising from supply chain. The decision was led by a mix of factors - a desire to build a career involving brands, as well as an evaluation of personal interests and capabilities.

I want to do an MBA to propel my career further in marketing.

However, there is a caveat. I have a string of rejects from last year's MBA applications - Fuqua, Ross, Yale, Kellogg, ISB (the last one was reject  after an interview, which didn't go well for certain reasons). However, I have since managed improvements in my profile (promotion, leadership opportunities, community involvement) and a GMAT score improvement (I applied with a 710 score then. Now it is 760)

How do you think the mix of my schools for this year should be?I have written essays I believe to be reasonably good, for Columbia and Tuck. And also looking at ISB reapp, and HEC Paris. But last year's rejects are weighing me down.

Any suggestions or pointers?

A dream is not the thing you see in sleep but is that thing that doesn't let you sleep.
