The Union Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) is an entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), twice a year, for candidates wanting to qualify as Assistant Professors or for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).


Here are the important details about UGC NET Paper 1 2019 –

Start date for Registration: 9th September, 2019

End date for Registration: 8th November, 2019

Date of Admit Card Release: 10th November, 2019

Last date to download admit card: 6th December, 2019

Start date for exams: 2nd December, 2019

Last date of exam: 6th December, 2019

Release of Results: By 31st December, 2019


How to download the admit card :

• Visit the official website of National Testing Agency

• Click on the Admit Card Link

• Fill in the registration number and Date of Birth

• Download the Admit Card

• Get a coloured print out the Admit Card


Paper 1 topic: Teaching/Research Aptitude


• Teaching Aptitude

• Research Aptitude

• Comprehension

• Quantitative Ability

• Logical Reasoning


Total number of questions for Paper 1: 50


Total marks: 100


Duration of Exam: 3 Hours (for Paper 1 and Paper 2 combined)


Marking Scheme:

• +2 marks for each correct answer.

• No negative marking.


Mode of exam: Online (Computer Based Test)


Shift timing for UGC NET 2019:

• Shift-I: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm

• Shift-II: 2:30 pm – 5:30pm


Minimum Qualifying Marks: (For being recognised as Assistant Professors or JRF)

• General: 40%

• SC/ST: 35%

I am new to ugc net and I have some queries..could anyone help me here.. 1.i have cleared net, and have masters degree but not phd, I want to ask can I apply for assistant professor in colleges or not as there is this new rule of phd for universities and i have heard this rule will apply to assistant professor in clg also from 2021. 2.if the answer for frst queation is yes then what is the whole procedure..when will i get the certificate and all

Really pathetic scene of UGC NET....... If this is the case... Why don't they put phd as an eligibility criteria for giving exam in the first place..... !!! Ohh then they won't be able to garner enough fees amount from aspirants..... !!! Literally feeling like there is no use of cracking this exam!!!
