Katrina walks down an up-escalator and counts 150 steps. Priyanka walks up the same escalator and counts 75 steps. Katrina takes three times as many steps in a given time as Priyanka. How many steps are visible on the escalator?

@harsimran29fe according to question, consider initial cost as 100, 40% increase means 140... Question no. 6 says he can spend 5% more than initial so he can spend 105... New cost is 140 and he spends only 105, so decrease % is (35/140)* 100= 25% @harsimran29fe  ·  10 karma

@harsimran29fe you should be very good with numbers for that, 720 = 24*30 = 30*24 = 36*20.....see difference bwn first values 24, 30 and 36 each is 6, which is speed , and also the second values 30 - 20 = 10hrs, 24 -20 = 4hrs....which matches with data in question... @vishiac  ·  5,074 karma

@harsimran29fe suppose x is initial speed and time is t, we get xt =(x+6)(t-4), which gives 6t -4x = 24, then second eqn xt = (x-6)(t+6), which gives x - t =6, solve for x and t, we get x =30, t = 24, dist =xt =30*24 = 720 Write a comment

@harsimran29fe Start from one end of diameter, move 600m towards N then from there move 800m towards E reaching the other end of diameter... this forms an right angled triangle with diameter as hypotenuse. Apply pythagorus theorem, (dia)^2 = 600^2 + 800^2.... so diameter = 1000 Write a comment

@harsimran29fe Bro same consideration, consider what if pedestrian doesn't move. Then speed of car is speed = distance / time, we know distance is 0.6 and time is 6min = 6/60hr = 0.1hr... speed is 0.6/0.1 =6km/hr... but the pedestrian was also moving with speed of 2km/hr in same direction so car's actual speed = 6+2 = 8km/hr @vishiac  ·  5,074 karma

@harsimran29fe else u can straight away consider both are moving in same direction so relative speed is (X -2)km/hr where X is speed of car... Now speed (X-2)= distance /time = 0.6/0.1 = 6, so X = 6+2 = 8km/hr Write a comment
