and for your information, we can us the formula rt + t*(t-1)*t^2/2.

Let's take the same example (1.08)^5

then put r= .05 and t= 5

The exact answer is 1.469 and the calculated value from above trick is 1.464 (quite close )

the only problem with this formula is it gives bad result for bigger values of r.

take the first 2 places after the decimal point and then square again

again, take the first 2 places after the decimal point and multiply by 1.08

see options for the closest value

Correction:replace "the answer" by "the data"

There's only one trick for DI.Read the question first and then the answer

Hi guys ...sometimes while solving CAT question i find the the tedious calculation like (1.08)^5...

does any body know any short trick to avoid this long calculationn and get an approximate answer?
