I actually read the article in ET (one that comes at home)...
the rankings were more detailed there...

i think i can explain the ranking and i think they are correct in a sense...
bschools are ranked on the basis of preference they get from the companies hiring...
now the top 100 companies obviously hire from iim a and the likes, hence its position at the top...
the companies in the top 200-300 bracket hire from colleges like amity, and similar Bschools, and they hire in good numbers which shoots up its ranking ....(obviously, these companies have no choice why would anybody in the top bschools would like to join them?)

So the ranking just imply the numbers in which companies hire, i.e. how much they favour a particular Bschool...

it is just that in the ET printed edition the colleges were grouped according to kinds of company that hire there...

I heard SPJIMR is ranked better than JBIMS and IIM-K. These rankings tell the other way.. which one to believe??

Don't follow ranking.
You expose what you want from an MBA. If we talk about good exposure than I will prefer SPJIMR. But in IIM-K is also following traditional strengths of name IIM.
So, it's up to you what you want. After all three of them are better.

It is that time of the year again! The Economic Times B- School Rankings are eagerly awaited at this time of the year. An in-depth assessment of the choice of schools that should be applied to is heavily relied on by aspirants. With a plethora of good business schools to choose from, the students need to gauge the schools on different criteria infrastructure, facilities, faculty and placements. Top MBA schools in the country have a combination of these factors but to select the top few is a task if not for the Economic Times B- School Rankings.

The Best MBA Ranking given to the a IIM- Ahmedabad is not a surprise. What one really struggles with is the second lots of good MBA schools. Not far after the predictable lot are the schools who are setting pace for a whole new breed of young business leaders from B-Schools like XLRI (2nd position), Narsee Moonji Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai (6th position), Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad (7th position), etc. SIBM having being ranked on the fourth position after IIM, Bangalore the Economic Times ranking this year brings in a host of changes. Having a credible record of placement and committed faculty for over a decade, IMT-G has retained its spot in the Economic Times B- School Rankings after beating IIM Lucknow and IIM Kozhikode distinctly. MDI, Gurgaon, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai, IIM-Kozhikode, ISB Hyderabad are also seen in the Tier 2 section, achieving high spots.

An MBA from a top ranked school is extremely important in this competitive scenario. While schools abroad are coveted by many, the Top MBA schools of India have outdone many of them in the quality and experience of education. The Economic Times B-school rankings instill that sense of faith and credibility as an independent assessment forum for the benefit of the students.
