I know it has almost been a month to Christmas now, but I can’t get over our Christmas and New Year party at NIBM.
Preparations started over two weeks prior to the final party, as each of us was a secret santa to the other.
The much awaited celebration started with a cake cutting ceremony, after which, secret confessions were displayed, random couple dances were performed and gifts by secret santa were distributed, what else we could have expected?
This is #NIBM #HomeAwayFromHome
More than studies..
2019 was a special year for NIBM, since it completed its 50 years in 2019.
A prestigious Institute established by RBI in 1969, NIBM pune has a renowned and large Alumni base. We are proud to share that Mr. Shaktikanta Das, Governor of Reserve Bank Of India, was once a trainee at NIBM Pune. He graced our college with his presence on The Convocation Day 2019.
Despite of having a rigorous course, the cultural committee of NIBM leaves no stone unturned to find ways to celebrate festivals. Be it Matki fod competition and Rangotsav on Janmashtami, flag hosting on Independence Day, 5-day celebration during Ganesh Utsav, Garba Night in Navratri, Tambola competition on Diwali, secret santa on Christmas and a High tea with director and faculty on New Year, each and every festival was celebrated with enthusiasm.
Having huge personalities (MD-CEOs of large Public sector banks) on the governing board of the college, NIBM has become a source of leaders in banking and finance industry for the country.
"PANDORA'S BOX - RELIVING OUR CHILDHOOD"
Sports committee organized an event named Pandora's box for both the batches of NIBM as a part of team building exercise to promote, sportsmanship, collaboration and leadership.
The childhood game of Dog and Bone along with multiple fun events like lemon race, book balancing, Sack Race etc were bundled together to cherish the good old memories. But the main focus was on physical exercises like Lunges, Pushups, Squats etc to promote fitness.
It is necessary for every one to take out some time to cherish the childhood memories and inculcate the habit of physical excerises to remain fit and healthy, to overcome the stress from one's busy Schedule and we at NIBM want to assure that all our students remain healthy, wealthy and wise throughout their life.
We are happy to inform that our batchmates Riya Nadkarni, Swasti Verma and Aditya Shah bagged 1st runner up position in Finvesto’19 conducted by Sydenham Institute of Management Studies, Research and Entrepreneurship Education (SIMSREE). This event had 4 stages and 8 teams reached the final round. We wish them much more success in the future.
The PGDM students of NIBM hosted a guest lecture by Prof K. Sukumaran from National Institute of Securities Market where he spoke about the " Stock Market Basics & Investor Sentiments" and how more ane more households should invest in the stock market. Prof. Sukumaran has two decades of experience as a banker and for the past eight years in the securities markets with NISM.
Sports committee of NIBM organized a box cricket event amongst the senior and junior batch to promote the spirit of team work, leadership and sportsmanship. It was a fun event to destress and bond with our batchmates and seniors. It's just one of the many fun activities that are a part of life in NIBM.
“Organizers of the treasure event guessed it right”
The fest committee of our college organised ROAD TO ADHIKOSH, 2 days ago, which is a treasure hunt event, named after our college Fest- ‘ADHIKOSH’, which is expected to be held in February 2020.
The treasure hunt kicked off and each team was handed their first clue. The clue is cryptic and once you break the code, it’ll lead you to some location in the campus. It has been only few months for us (1st year students), having been a part of this college and those clues led us to places where we’ve never been or heard of before. Hence, that was absolutely a perfect opportunity for newbies to explore the huge (60 acre to be precise) and beautiful campus, we have.
Our fest committee worked really hard to set and put the clues smartly and fairly, which justifies the title given to this article.
We were eager to know who won the event at last and what was the ‘treasure’ the team found. It was nothing but a puzzle, which solved into a beautiful picture of waterfall that is located right in our college.
Each one of us have amazing memories of the event, regardless of whether we won or not.
NIBM was pleased to welcome Mr Prashant Mane, Director FIS Client services. Mr Mane is an expert in the field of Financial technologies and delivered a discourse to the PGDM batch 2019-21 on the potential and future of technology in banking. He touched on the importance of trust and intelligence in banking and how use of technology can enhance the role of banks as an intermediary. His talk centered around effective use of Blockchain and AI to solve the trust issues as well making the banking system more integrated, simplifying the credit appraisal process eliminating the need for multi-lateral reconciliation across banks. He also gave a comprehensive overview of the security architecture of Blockchain and progress of AI and machine learning in banking data analytics and how they are going to affect the industry going forward.
