IIM Calcutta Eligibility Criteria


  • Candidate must appear in CAT 2018 online examination
  • Bachelor Degree with minimum 50 % marks or equivalent (5 % relaxation in case of SC, ST and PWD candidates). The percentage of marks will be considered as per the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. If there is a grading system, the conversion of CGPA to the percentage of marks would be based on the method certified by the university/institute. In case there is no method to convert CGPA to marks, then Obtained CGPA will be divided by maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the result with 100.
  • Candidates who are in final year of their bachelor's graduation are also eligible to apply. If a candidate is selected for the 2019-21 PGP program, the candidate is required to submit a certificate latest by June 30, 2019 from the Principal/Registrar of his/her University/Institute (issued on or before June 30, 2019) stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification as on the date of the issue of the certificate.
  • Candidates who have not received their mark sheets or equivalents at the time of registration will have to submit passing certificate/mark sheet/degree in original and photocopy as soon as the university/institute declares the respective results, but not later than 31st December 2019. If not done, the candidature will be automatically canceled from IIM Calcutta.

A. Personal Interview (PI) Short-listing

Candidate will be short-listed for the further admission process based on their CAT 2018 score, past academic performance till graduation and other parameters as mentioned below.

Stage I: This stage requires candidates to score minimum sectional as well as overall percentile in CAT 2018. Below are percentile required:

Stage II:In this stage, IIM C calculates the composite score of all the aspiring candidates by computing the percentage of marks and assigning weights to different components as described below.
Note: The actual overall and sectional percentile of call getters might be much higher than the percentiles mentioned above and will be dependent on the ratio of the number of available seats and number of call getters. Candidates, who score the above-mentioned percentiles throughout all the sections and overall, will be considered for further calculation of their composite score as mentioned in Stage II.

Note: Aggregate marks of all the subject mentioned on mark sheet are considered for computing percentage of Class 10th and 12th irrespective of the rules followed by different boards.
