The question is not 'which is better', but 'which is more popular'. The reason behind this is that the relative value of each MBA changes according to the type of market and its condition.

Is finance better than marketing? The answer is yes and no, as finance seems a better option in today's situation where the stock market is optimistic.

Finance people -- the bean counters, as they are called -- are viewed as pessimists. They will always tell you why the company should NOT go for the proposed plans. On the other hand, the marketing people -- the optimists -- will have no doubts about the success of these plans.

The MBA you choose should also depend on your personal ability. If you are good at number-crunching, have a flair for juggling numbers and think you can manage the party well, then finance is the job for you. If you are creative and have a zeal to sell, then there's no doubt you should be in marketing. So you have to really assess yourself before you decide on your specialisation.

Every wannabe manager should keep in mind that an MBA in finance gives you the tools to analyse and expand your market, but not the marketing skills and tactics necessary for increasing your output.

Option for specialization is provided in 2nd year. 1st year is to just analyse yourself where you stand. 2 months internship will defines you in more justified way to what to opt.

MBA finance is tough as compare to marketing so i think you must go with MBA Marketing. MBA marketing in the context of industries; one can develop a career in sectors ranging from FMCG, Retail, Tourism, Banking, Hospitality etc.

Go for MBA marketing if you do not like to spend lot of hours studying complex book. Finance is hard and suited for studious guy. I will opt for marketing even though I have 70 percent in graduation.

Also there is more job options in Marketing in India.

Buddy it all depends upon your area of interest and skill set. Career in marketing derives from common sense and Iq . Marketing person has to interact and get social with many people . Please understand it is job market requirement

on the other hand MBA finance is more  technical course based on tools/ software's (In-depth knowledge of MS office is very important) . Everything is based on numbers

Hi, First think which area you wish to plan your career in. Are you an outgoing person who likes meeting people then, go for marketing. If you are good with numbers and can work long hours sitting at a place go for finance.
