You can start by grouping cities and their neighbors. Then start by urban rural population -> avg income then age division -> profession division n some more basic demgraphics

Estimate the area of the ground, say A

take the area covered by a ball equal to its (diameter)^2, say a, divide , A/a

double that number to add another layer over it, so that it fills the gap in between balls! ans 2A/a

Hi Shruti, there are no perfect answers to such type question. You can start solving the case by considering the total population of Mumbai. Number of gas stations in your locality, number of people living in you locality. Number of gas stations per total number people. Then broadening to total Mumbai.

Read 'Case in Point' by Marc P. Cosentino for solving such type cases.
