The proposal to pay performance-linked bonus for central government employees is likely to be an attempt to boost only corruption efficiency in the Indian bureaucracy. This is likely to be new heights of bogus bench-marking of performance measurement in Indian government offices in future. The problem of reaching these incentives to real deserving employees in government sector shall always remain un-resolved; and these bonuses will hardly make differences. The extra funds allotted to the departments will be cleverly siphoned out by corrupt employees. While performance-based incentive system may look pretty good but this will lead to a serious failure. The performance measuring authorities themselves are neck-deep in corrupt practices and this will offer them another opportunity for making financial gains by manipulating the assessment system incorporated. All departments can show high scores on this front. Here an official handling more number of files will be benefited and the hard working employee with few or no files to push will have to suffer due to his superiors.
The only way to boost employees efficiency within government sector can happen only by taking un-biased and adequate measures for housing needs, food quality & quantity, the appropriate/adequate education facilities for wards, the clothing needs, transportation needs, adequate social security and financial measure for future & old age, medical needs etc.
