For the motion:

A student has the following advantages -
1) Control over cost of living and other related costs (like travel) if the institution is near one's hometown
2) Access to strong local networks if someone is looking at a career in local startups or organizations
3) More credible pre-MBA information can be collected, thereby reducing risks of taking up a local program/institution near hometown

Against the motion:
It't not suggested to study near one's hometown because:
1) Today's better paying jobs have flexibility to work in alien environments as a "sought after" factor. Someone choosing to be near hometown may give out the wrong impressions
2) A program like MBA should have people from diverse backgrounds and ethnicity to improve learning. This mostly lacks in schools near hometown (exceptions are there - for schools already having diverse batches)
3) Away from hometown forces one to increase and improve one's social and profession circle. This will always help someone in his/her career
4) Staying on one's own terms and resources builds character, which would compliment learning from an MBA program

I agree that if a student wants to expand his career opportunities, he should select a college outside his hometown because it not only help the student to move forward in his career but also helps to develop new contacts over here which may help him to get job assistance in future.lookroundlookround

When a student starts planning to go for a college, the first thing that comes in his or her mind is that whether they should go for a college outside their hometown or they should stay in their own state.

Although in both these cases there are certain advantages or disadvantages.

If one chooses a college in his own hometown or near to it, then the main advantage is that the place as well as the people in the college can be familiar. But there can be a disadvantage also may be that student will not get the course or degree according to his or her choice from the college he has selected.

But when a student takes admission in a college outside his or home, s/he gets to learn lot of new things as well as one can expand his/her career opportunities.

Though students may gain new experiences but homesickness is a major issue with the new college students.
