UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist 2017 Exam Pattern.


Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) notified on their official website and has invited eligible candidates for the Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist 2017 examination. Interested candidates can go to the official website and apply for the examination by 3rd March 2017. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the examination schedule of the Combined Geo Scientist and Geologist Exam 2017 on the official website, the link for which is upsc.gov.in

Eligibility: Candidate should have Passed or Appearing for Master Degree Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Earth Science or Any Other Equivalent Degree
 

Geophysicist Group A:
Total Post: 40
Age Limit: 21-32
Eligibility: Candidate should have Passed or Appearing Master Degree in Science in Streams such as Physics / Applied Physics / Geophysics / Marine Geophysics or Any Other Equivalent Degree
 

Chemist Group A:
Total Post: 25
Age Limit: 21-32
Eligibility: Candidate should have a Master Degree in Science, M.Sc in Chemistry / Applied Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry Passed / Appearing in Any Recognized University in India.
 

Junior Hydro geologists:
Total Post: 25
Age Limit: 21-35
Eligibility: Candidate should have Passed or Appearing (Final Year) Master degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology or Any Equivalent Degree in Any Recognized University in India.
 

UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist 2017 Fees:


General / OBC : 200/-
SC / ST / PH : 0/- (Nil)
All Category Female : 0/- (Exempted)
 

Candidates can pay the examination fee via Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking in various State Bank. Candidates can also pay via E-Challan fee mode.

I've M.Sc(physics) back ground...so i don't have any idea about geology..and the following syllabus given in upsc web site for this exam..the topics are:

Seismology, Application of Gravity and magnetic

techniques in geophysical mapping and mineral exploration,

theory of isostacy, Remote Sensing & GIS applications,

Airborne Marine and Borehole geophysics, Electrical and

Electromagnetic techniques and applications in mineral

exploration, ground water etc.

(iii) Structural Geology, Geotectonics, Physical Geolog

plz suggest me some books which will cover the above topics..
